Built to live outdoors
The Principal Sloan (formerly Hanley) outdoor driver is designed around one idea: keep water out and keep 12 volts steady. The sealed enclosure is rated IP68 waterproof and comes with a robust cover, waterproof connections and pre-attached cables, so there is no fragile terminal block sitting exposed to rain, sprinklers or pool splash. Two integrated drilling holes let you fasten the unit directly to a wall, post, deck frame or cabinet side, which keeps the outdoor LED power supply off the ground, away from standing water and safe from being kicked or pulled. At 189*47*31mm it hides neatly under a stair tread, behind a planter or inside a soffit cavity.
Clean, constant 12V power
This is a constant-voltage driver: it holds a regulated 12Vdc output no matter how much of its capacity you use, which is exactly what LED strip lights and 12V fixtures need to avoid flicker, colour shift or dim ends on a run. The wide 100-277VAC 50~60Hz input means it is comfortable on standard residential line voltage as well as the higher voltages found in commercial and industrial buildings. Output is 5.0A, for a maximum of 60W. Good practice is to leave some margin: add up the wattage per foot or per metre of your tape light multiplied by your total length, and keep the result comfortably under the 60W ceiling.

Wiring and installation
The driver uses two distinct ports. On the input side, the 120V AC connection has three wires: live, neutral and ground. On the output side, the 12V DC connection has two wires, positive and negative, supplied in 14 gauge wire — a healthy gauge that limits voltage drop on the low-voltage side. Respect polarity on the DC output, as LED tape will simply not light if positive and negative are reversed. Its Class 2 rating keeps the low-voltage side within safe limits, which simplifies runs in decks, docks and garden beds. Line-voltage connections should always be made by a qualified electrician in a suitable junction or weatherproof enclosure, following the Canadian Electrical Code and your local requirements.
Where it earns its keep — and the documentation
Think patio and deck lighting, stair and railing tape, pool and spa surrounds, gazebos and pergolas, pathway and garden bed accents, backlit house numbers and outdoor sign lighting, soffit and eave grazing, plus mobile applications like RVs, trailers, boats and cottages where 12V is already the standard. In commercial work it powers storefront window strips, patio railings for restaurants and small illuminated signage. For projects beyond 60W, install multiple HANPSU drivers and divide the strip into sections rather than overloading a single unit — this also improves colour consistency across a long run. The technical PDF (HANLEY OUTDOOR 12V DC LED DRIVER 60W) is available in the Documentation tab with the full input, output, dimension and certification data for your submittal package.
