12V UNIVERSAL DIMMABLE LED DRIVER 48W (CLASS 2)

12V UNIVERSAL DIMMABLE LED DRIVER 48W (CLASS 2)

SKU: 12DIMPC2-48W

Brand: LED MONTREAL

Ever wired up a beautiful LED strip light only to discover your wall dimmer makes it buzz, flicker or simply refuse to dim? The 12V Universal Dimmable LED Driver 48W (Class 2) from LED Montreal is the little box that fixes all of that. Also known as a dimmable LED power supply, a 12 volt transformer or simply one of those lighting drivers every strip light project needs, it lets you control your single colour LED tape with a standard 110V wall dimmer — no remote, no app, no extra controller. It's the go-to solution for under-cabinet kitchen lighting, cove and crown moulding lighting, closets, stair nosing, display cases and any job where the homeowner just wants to turn a familiar knob or slide a switch on the wall.

This is a constant voltage driver: input 100 – 120V AC, output 12V 4A 48W, which gives you a real budget of watts to spread across your strip runs. It dims smoothly from 100% down to 20% with no noise and no flickering, and it works with any recent standard 120V AC dimmer — best of all, it requires no minimum load, so short runs of tape dim just as nicely as long ones. The housing is compact at 15.3 cm x 5.2 cm x 2 cm, easy to tuck inside a cabinet, a soffit or a junction box, and the unit is cETLus certified for Canada and the USA as a Class 2 power supply. SKU 12DIMPC2-48W.

One important note before you order: this driver is made strictly for single colour LED strips. If your project uses RGB, RGBW or CCT-variable tape, the dimming has to be handled by the LED controller with a non-dimmable driver instead — same thing if you plan to run single colour strip through a controller. Contractors across Canada reach for this driver in kitchen renovations, basement built-ins, retail display shelving, restaurant bars, salon stations and office reception desks, wherever the wall dimmer is already in place. Need a different wattage for your run? Compare it with the 12V Universal Dimmable LED Driver 24W or the 12V Universal Dimmable LED Driver 60W, then add yours to the cart and finally get the dimming you pictured.

Built for real-world strip lighting
A 12V LED driver is the heart of any low-voltage tape light installation, and this one is designed to disappear into the job. Measuring 15.3 cm x 5.2 cm x 2 cm, the compact enclosure slides behind a valance, above a cabinet, inside a soffit or next to a junction box without forcing you to rebuild the millwork. It is a Class 2 power supply, carries cETLus certification for Canada and the USA, and is built by CDNLUX for LED Montreal — the kind of paperwork an inspector likes to see on a residential or commercial project.

Dimming that actually behaves
What sets this universal dimmable LED driver apart is how it handles your existing wall control. It is engineered to work with any recent standard 120V AC dimmer and takes your single colour LED strips smoothly from 100% to 20% — no audible buzz, no strobing at the low end, no hunting for a "compatible" dimmer model. Even better, it needs no minimum load, which is the usual culprit when a short two or three foot run of tape refuses to dim or flickers at the bottom of the slider. Wire it, dim it, done.

Compatibility and wiring notes
Use this driver only with single colour 12V LED strips — warm white, neutral white, cool white or a single colour tape. If your project calls for RGB, RGBW or CCT-variable strip, dimming must be managed through the LED controller and you need a non-dimmable driver instead; the same applies if you choose to run single colour tape through a controller. On the line side, the driver is fed from your 120V circuit through the wall dimmer; on the load side, respect the 48W output when you total up your runs, and remember that a longer tape run or a higher watt-per-metre tape eats that budget faster. If your layout grows, step up to the 12V Universal Dimmable LED Driver 60W; for a single small shelf or a bathroom vanity accent, the 12V Universal Dimmable LED Driver 24W is often all you need.

Where it earns its keep — and the paperwork
Think kitchen under-cabinet lighting on the same dimmer as the pot lights, a basement media wall with cove lighting, a walk-in closet with shelf lighting, a retail counter with illuminated displays, a café bar front, a clinic reception desk or a home office floating shelf. Anywhere a client says "I just want to dim it from the wall," this is the answer — and in Canadian homes where the dimmer is already installed and nobody wants another remote on the counter, it saves a service call.
