Built to hold its colour
This RGB 5050 LED strip is built around Epistar 5050 RGB SMD chips at a density of 60 LEDs per metre. Each 5050 chip contains a red, a green and a blue emitter in one package, so colour mixing happens right at the source instead of creating separate dots of red, green and blue down the run. The result is a continuous, saturated line of colour with a 120° lighting angle that fills coves, channels and cabinet recesses evenly. The flexible circuit is 12mm wide and just 5mm high, and the whole 5-metre roll is finished with an IP67 protective coating that shields the LEDs from dust and humidity.

Wiring, power and installation
The strip runs on 12V DC and consumes 14.4W per metre, so a full 5-metre roll needs a 12V power supply sized with the recommended 18W per metre in mind — that headroom keeps the driver cool and the colours stable end to end. Connections are made easy: a 4-pin male connector (17cm) sits on one end and a 4-pin female connector (17cm) on the other, which lets you feed power at either end and join sections without soldering surprises. If your run is shorter than 5 metres, cut the strip only on the marked points, every 3 LEDs (50mm). Peel the 3M self-adhesive backing and press the strip onto a clean, dry surface; heat dissipation isn't strictly necessary, but installing it on a heat-dissipating surface or inside an appropriate aluminum channel is recommended for longevity and for a more finished, glare-free look.
Controllers, dimming and compatibility
Because it's an RGB product, this strip is not plug-and-play on its own: it needs a low-voltage RGB controller/remote combo to change colours and to dim. The number of colours and effects you can reach — up to two million shades of mixed red, green and blue — depends entirely on the controller you choose. This is the strip only, so plan on a 12V DC power supply and an RGB controller for your build. The IP67 rating covers dry and humid environments for indoor and protected outdoor use; the strip should never be submerged in liquid or permanently exposed to wet conditions, and it operates from 40C to -10C.
Where it works and what's documented
Contractors use this weatherproof LED strip for ceiling coves and drop-ceiling perimeters, under kitchen cabinets and in toe-kicks, along staircases and handrails, behind headboards and TV walls, and to backlight bar fronts, shelving and retail displays. Small businesses put it under counters, around signage and in window displays, while homeowners love it in basements, home theatres and gaming setups. Under a covered porch, a soffit or a roofed patio, the IP67 coating gives it the protection Canadian weather demands. Note that the 12V version has been discontinued and is now offered exclusively in a 24V version under product code 24RGB30067.
