Built as a ready-to-install assembly
What sets this unit apart from a bare brick-style transformer is the black junction box it arrives mounted in. The black junction box measures 35cm x 7.5cm x 3.6cm and houses the power supply, which on its own measures 18cm x 6cm x 3.5cm. That means one tidy component to secure and wire instead of a loose driver hanging behind millwork, and a finished look if the box ends up somewhere semi-visible, like the top of a cabinet, a basement ceiling or the back of a display fixture. The slim profile is deliberate: it slides into soffits, valances, toe-kick cavities and shallow service spaces where a bulkier LED transformer simply will not go.
Dimming that behaves
This is a constant voltage dimmable LED driver designed to respond to any recent standard 120V AC wall dimmer. It takes your LED strip lights smoothly from 100% down to 20% without buzzing or flicker, and it does not require a minimum load to perform — a real advantage on short accent runs, where many drivers stutter, drop out or refuse to start. Because the dimming happens on the line side, you keep the wall control your client already knows how to use, with no remote to lose and no app to set up. Remember the limit: this approach works with single colour LED strips only. RGB, RGBW and tunable-white CCT tape must be dimmed through their own LED controller, paired with a non-dimmable driver.

Wiring and compatibility
Feed the driver from a 100 - 120V AC circuit controlled by your wall dimmer, then run the 12V output to your low-voltage load. With 60W available at 5A, plan your tape length against the wattage per metre of the strip you chose, and keep a little headroom rather than loading the driver to the last watt — your runs will stay cooler and more stable. For longer installations, it is common practice to use several drivers fed from the same dimmed circuit rather than pushing one past its rating. All line-voltage connections should be made by a qualified electrician in accordance with the Canadian Electrical Code and local requirements; the Class 2 rating and cETLus certification for Canada and the USA make inspections straightforward on residential and commercial jobs alike.
Where it earns its keep, and what to read
Think under-cabinet kitchen lighting on the same dimmer as the pot lights, a cove detail in a living room that fades down for movie night, illuminated stair nosings, closet and pantry strips, bar shelving in a restaurant, jewellery and bakery display cases, or backlit reception signage in an office. In every one of those, the customer wants a dimmer on the wall — not a remote in a drawer. Full details are in the Documentation tab: the technical PDF for the 12V Universal Dimmable LED Driver 60W (Class 2) lists the input, output, dimensions and certification so you can confirm everything before wiring day.
