180W – (3 X 60W) 12V UNIVERSAL DIMMABLE LED DRIVER (CLASS 2)

180W – (3 X 60W) 12V UNIVERSAL DIMMABLE LED DRIVER (CLASS 2)

SKU: 12DIMP180

Brand: LED MONTREAL

Finally, a clean way to dim your 12V LED strip lights from an ordinary wall switch. The 180W – (3 X 60W) 12V UNIVERSAL DIMMABLE LED DRIVER (CLASS 2), model 12DIMP180, is a constant voltage dimmable LED driver — also called an LED transformer, LED power supply or low-voltage 12V power pack — built to feed single-colour LED tape and low-voltage fixtures throughout a home, condo or storefront. Instead of adding a remote, an app or a separate dimming module, you wire it to a standard 120V wall dimmer and control your LED strip lighting the way you already control every other light in the room. It is the piece most people are looking for when they search for lighting drivers, dimmable LED downlights power supplies or a dimmable 12V transformer for under-cabinet and cove lighting.

This driver takes a 100 - 120V AC input and delivers 12V DC through three separate outputs, each rated 2.5A max (60W), for 180W total — so one unit can drive three independent runs of tape light instead of three separate transformers cluttering your ceiling space. It is a Class 2 constant voltage power supply, cETLus certified for Canada and the USA, so it fits comfortably into inspected residential and commercial work. Dimming works with any recent standard wall dimmer (Triac or low-voltage magnetic) and takes your strips smoothly from 100% down to 20% without noise or flicker, and no minimum load is required — a real advantage on short runs. The power supply measures 27.6cm x 7.8cm x 4.7cm and comes with a junction box measuring 45.5cm x 8.7cm x 6.0cm.

Put it to work behind kitchen cabinets, in a bedroom cove, along a basement stair, under a bathroom vanity, in a retail display case or above the millwork of a reception desk — anywhere a 12V LED tape run needs real, switch-on-the-wall dimming. Canadian renovators love it because it drops into a standard electrical opening and answers to the dimmer already on the wall. Important: this driver is made for single colour LED strips only; RGB, RGBW and CCT-variable tape must be dimmed through their own LED controller paired with a non-dimmable driver. Consult the technical PDF in the Documentation tab, then add SKU 12DIMP180 to your project list and light it up properly.

Three outputs, one tidy install
The 12DIMP180 is a constant voltage LED driver that converts 100 - 120V AC line power into a stable 12V DC supply for low-voltage lighting. What sets it apart from a basic transformer is its three independent outputs, each good for 2.5A max (60W), for a combined 180W. That lets an electrician split a long installation into three shorter, balanced runs — for example the upper cabinets, the lower cabinets and a toe-kick accent — all fed from a single enclosure and all dimmed together from the same wall control. The unit ships with its own junction box, so the connections stay contained, protected and easy to find later if a strip is ever extended or replaced.

Dimming that actually behaves
Most dimming headaches with 12V LED strip lights come from a driver that fights the dimmer. This one is designed to work with any recent standard wall dimmer, Triac or low-voltage magnetic, and it takes the light smoothly from 100% to 20% without buzzing and without flicker. Just as useful on renovation jobs: no minimum load is required, so a short 2 or 3 foot accent run dims as cleanly as a full kitchen perimeter. Keep in mind the intended use — single colour LED tape. Colour-changing RGB, RGBW and tunable CCT products are dimmed by their own controller and should be paired with a non-dimmable driver instead; single colour strips can also be run through a controller, but that setup likewise calls for a non-dimmable power supply.

Installation and electrical notes
Plan the layout before pulling wire: total the wattage of every strip you intend to connect, then distribute it across the three 60W outputs rather than loading one channel. Because this is a Class 2 power supply, the low-voltage side stays within Class 2 limits, which simplifies wiring runs in cabinetry, coves and millwork. Mount the driver where it can breathe and where it remains accessible — inside a cabinet soffit, above a drop ceiling with a service panel, or in a mechanical closet — and keep the DC runs as short as practical to avoid voltage drop at the far end of long tape runs. On the line side, a single 120V dimmer feeds the driver; choose a recent Triac or low-voltage magnetic model and confirm the dimmer's own capacity covers the connected load. Installation should follow the Canadian Electrical Code and, where required, be completed by a licensed electrician.

Where it earns its keep, and what to read
This driver is a workhorse for kitchen under-cabinet lighting, bedroom and living room cove lighting, stairway and hallway accents, bathroom vanity and mirror backlighting, closet and pantry strips, and home theatre risers. On the commercial side it suits retail shelving and display cases, bar and restaurant back-bars, reception desks, salon stations and office millwork — anywhere a shop owner wants warm, dimmable low-voltage light on a familiar wall control. Its cETLus certification for Canada and USA makes it appropriate for inspected residential and commercial projects across the country. The complete technical PDF for the 12V 180W (3 x 60W) constant voltage dimmable driver is available in the Documentation tab of this page — check the output distribution and the enclosure dimensions there before you frame in your cabinet space or ceiling opening.
