Built for the weather, not just the workbench
The 12V5AETLPSU is a sealed, hardwired constant-voltage driver designed to live where ordinary plug-in transformers fail. Its IP67-rated enclosure and waterproof cable entries keep moisture, dust and wind-driven rain out of the electronics, while the integrated mounting brackets on each side let you anchor it with two screws to a wall, a deck joist, a post or the back of a cabinet. That fixed mounting is more than tidiness: a driver that can't swing, vibrate or sit in a puddle is a driver that keeps its connections tight for years. It's equally at home indoors, tucked into a millwork void or a mechanical room, which is why it shows up in both indoor LED lighting and outdoor LED lighting system installs.
Clean, steady 12V for LED strip and low-voltage fixtures
LEDs are fussy about their supply — voltage ripple shows up as flicker on camera and shortens diode life. This unit provides a regulated 12V DC constant voltage up to 5 amps, which means a 60W budget to share among your fixtures. A practical rule: total the watts per metre or per fixture across your run, then stay under that 60W ceiling so the driver runs cool and relaxed. If your layout needs more than 60W, split the load across two drivers rather than overloading one — with low-voltage runs, shorter feeds and balanced loads also protect you from voltage drop at the far end of a long strip.

Wiring and installation notes
The wide 100 – 265V AC input means the same unit is comfortable on a standard Canadian 120V circuit, indoors or out. On the secondary side, respect polarity: red to the positive pad or wire of your LED strip, black to negative — reversed polarity simply means no light, and on some strips it can damage the first diodes. Use proper waterproof connectors or gel-filled splices for any outdoor junction, keep the driver out of standing water even though it is sealed, and leave it accessible for service. Because this model is not dimmable, control it with a switch, a timer, a smart relay, or an in-line 12V DC controller or RGB controller placed on the output side. Outdoor line-voltage connections must be made in a suitable weatherproof enclosure and, in most Canadian jurisdictions, by a licensed electrician — always follow the Canadian Electrical Code and your local authority.
Real-world applications and documentation
Homeowners use it for deck and stair lighting, gazebos, pergolas, under-railing strips, garden and pathway accents, and cottage or RV and trailer projects. Contractors reach for it on soffit lighting, backlit and channel outdoor sign lights, cove details, display cases and retail shelving where a compact, certified 12V supply is required. Small businesses like it for signage and window displays that run every evening.
