Built for real-world low-voltage lightingThis
12V constant voltage LED driver from LED MONTREAL is designed around one goal: letting a standard wall dimmer control low-voltage LED strip lighting the way a homeowner expects. The housing is slim and rectangular at
15.3 cm x 5.2 cm x 2 cm, a footprint that slides behind a valance, inside a cabinet, above a drop ceiling tile or into an accessible enclosure. It is classified as a
Class 2 power supply, the category electricians look for on low-voltage LED installations, and it carries
cETLus certification for Canada and the USA.
Dimming without the dramaMost dimming headaches with LED tape come from a driver that refuses to cooperate with a residential dimmer. This one is made to work with any recent standard
120V AC wall dimmer and delivers smooth, continuous dimming from 100% down to 20% without audible buzz and without flickering. Just as important for small installs, it does not require a minimum load, so a one-metre accent run under a shelf dims just as cleanly as a full kitchen perimeter. The result is warm, controlled light on a dimmer you already know how to use — no app, no remote, no extra wall plate.

Compatibility and wiring notesUse this driver with
12V single colour LED strip lights only — warm white, neutral white, cool white or a single colour tape. If your project uses RGB, RGBW or CCT-selectable strips, dimming has to be handled by the LED controller and you will need a non-dimmable driver instead; the same applies if you plan to run a single colour strip through a controller. Size the driver to your load: total the wattage per metre of your tape, multiply by your run length, and leave headroom under the
24W output. Need more capacity for a longer run or a second zone? The
48W version and the
60W version share the same behaviour and the same Class 2, cETLus-certified design, so you can standardize across a whole job site.
Where it earns its keep — and documentationThink under-cabinet kitchen lighting on the existing dimmer, a basement home theatre with cove lighting that drops to a soft glow for movie night, a bathroom vanity accent, bedroom headboard lighting, closet shelving, stair and hallway runs, plus commercial work: retail display cases, restaurant bar fronts, reception millwork, boutique shelving and hotel corridors. Because it accepts
100 – 120V AC, it drops straight into standard Canadian residential and light commercial circuits. Installation should always be done by a qualified electrician and the driver kept in an accessible, dry, ventilated location. The full
technical spec sheet (PDF) for this driver family is available in the Documentation tab — download it for input and output values, dimensions and certification details before you rough in.
