Built to hide, built to last
The whole point of a good LED power supply is that nobody ever sees it. LED MONTREAL designed this one as its most compact hardwired 24V unit, small enough to tuck under a cabinet, inside a cabinet, behind a valance or above a drop ceiling tile. Two molded mounting brackets are part of the housing, so you fasten it to wood, drywall backing or millwork in seconds without extra hardware or straps. Because it is a hardwired LED driver rather than a plug-in adapter, there's no cord to conceal and no receptacle tied up — a real advantage in finished kitchens, tight soffits and commercial casework where every inch counts.
Clean, steady 24V power
LED strips and low-voltage fixtures are fussy about their power: too little current and they flicker or dim unevenly, too much and you shorten their life. This driver delivers a constant 24V DC output with up to 2.5A of current, for a total of 60W available to your lighting. Running your LEDs at 24V rather than 12V also means less voltage drop over distance, so long counter runs, cove details and ceiling perimeters stay even from the first LED to the last. Keep your total connected load at or under 60W and you get bright, stable light with headroom to spare.
Technical specifications
SKU: HWDR24V-60W
Brand: LED MONTREAL
Certification: cULus for Canada and USA
Input: 100 - 120V AC
Output: 24V 2.5A 60W
Dimmable: No
Mounting: 2 molded mounting brackets
Connections: two distinct screw-in ports, AC input and DC output
Wiring and installation
The two screw-in terminal ports are the installer's favourite detail: one dedicated port for the AC input and one for the DC output, clearly separated so the line side and the low-voltage side never get confused. They accept solid wire of 14 AWG and smaller, which covers the gauges normally pulled for this kind of low-voltage work. Using a heavier multi-braid wire on the 24V DC side lets you place the driver a good distance away from the LEDs themselves — handy when the only available cavity is across the room from the lighting. As always, the AC connection must be made by a qualified electrician to a junction box and switched circuit that meet local code; the Canadian Electrical Code governs the line-voltage side of the work.
Where it fits and what's documented
Use it for under-cabinet lighting in kitchens, vanity and mirror lighting in bathrooms, toe-kick and stair lighting, closet and pantry strips, display case and shelving lighting in boutiques, bar and back-bar accents in restaurants, and signage or reception-desk details in offices. It pairs with any 24V DC LED strip, LED tape or low-voltage linear fixture whose combined wattage stays within 60W. Since this model is not dimmable, wire it to a standard on/off switch or a relay rather than a dimmer; choose a dimmable driver instead if you need scene control. Full details, including the input and output ratings and certification, are in the technical PDF (24V UL LISTED 0.5A TO 2.5 A HARDWIRED LED DRIVERS) available in the Documentation tab — worth downloading for your submittal package or inspection file.
