A driver made for real-world dimmingMost dimming headaches on
LED strip lights come from the power supply, not the tape. This LED MONTREAL
universal dimmable LED driver was designed to solve exactly that: it is a constant voltage unit that accepts a standard 120V AC wall dimmer on the line side and delivers smooth, quiet dimming from 100% to 20% on the output side. There is no audible buzz, no flicker, no stepping — and no minimum load requirement, which is what usually ruins dimming performance when you only have a short run of tape to power.

Construction and installationThe housing is thin and compact, which is a real advantage when your only hiding spot is a shallow cabinet valance, a drop ceiling plenum edge, a vanity cavity or the back of a millwork panel. The included
junction box with its two integrated mounting brackets lets you fasten the driver securely to a stud, a cabinet side or a backer board instead of leaving it dangling behind the casework. As always with low-voltage work, keep the driver accessible for service, respect polarity on the 24V output, and connect the line side through the wall dimmer that will control the circuit. Wiring should be done by a qualified electrician in accordance with the Canadian Electrical Code and your local requirements.
Compatibility and sizingThis driver is made for
24V single-colour LED strips and other 24V constant voltage loads. With a 24W output, you simply add up the wattage of the tape you plan to connect and stay within that budget — leaving a little headroom is always a good habit for long-term reliability. For longer runs, a full kitchen perimeter or several zones on one supply, the same family offers the
24V Universal Dimmable LED Driver 48W and the
24V Universal Dimmable LED Driver 60W, which share the same dimming behaviour and the same Class 2 approach. On the control side, use a recent standard 120V AC wall dimmer; multiple drivers can be grouped on the same dimmer as long as the dimmer's own capacity is respected.
Where it earns its keep, and documentationThink under-cabinet and toe-kick lighting in kitchens, backlit bathroom mirrors, closet and pantry shelving, staircase nosing, headboard coves, basement bars and home theatres. On the commercial side, it suits retail display cases, jewellery counters, reception desks, restaurant banquettes and office millwork — anywhere a client wants to turn the ambience down with a familiar wall dimmer rather than a remote or an app. The technical PDF for the 24W, 48W and 60W versions is available in the Documentation tab of this page, with the input, output and certification details for the 24DIMPC2-24W model.
