Built for professional 12V systems
The 12DIMP96 is a Class 1 LED driver, which places it in a different category than the little plug-in transformers used for accent lighting. Class 1 means the installation must be engineered: the load is divided through recognized fuses, and the finished system is inspected and recertified by an accredited body such as UL, Intertek or QPS. That is not something an electrician can sign off on alone. So before you order, confirm with your designer or engineer that your project is specified for a Class 1 power supply — and if it isn't, a Class 2 driver is the right call.

Dimming that stays simple
One of the best things about this dimmable LED driver is how straightforward the control side is: it dims with a 120V AC dimmer on the line side. You wire the dimmer where you would normally put it, and the driver follows. That keeps the wall plate familiar for the end user and keeps the low-voltage side of the job clean. As always with dimming, test your chosen dimmer with the full connected load before the ceiling closes up — the smoothest results come from matching the dimmer to the actual wattage on the circuit.
Installation and wiring notes
The 100 - 265V AC input range gives you flexibility on the supply side for residential and commercial projects, and the 12V 8A 96W output defines your budget on the fixture side — total up the wattage of everything you plan to connect and leave yourself headroom rather than running at the ceiling. The driver body at 23cm x 7cm x 4.5cm is compact enough to tuck into a service space, and the supplied junction box at 37.7cm x 7.5cm x 5.3cm gives you a proper, protected home for the splices. Mount it where air can move around it and where it stays accessible for service.
Where it fits, and documentation
You will see drivers like this in commercial fit-outs, retail and hospitality projects, architectural cove and feature lighting, and custom 12V systems in larger homes — anywhere a designed lighting package has been drawn up with fusing and inspection in mind. Across Canada, that inspection and recertification step by an accredited body is what makes the difference between a system that passes and one that gets torn out. Remember that this unit is not for low-voltage LED strips, which need a Class 2 supply of no more than 96W at 24V or 60W at 12V.
