24V UNIVERSAL DIMMABLE LED DRIVER 80W (CLASS 2)

24V UNIVERSAL DIMMABLE LED DRIVER 80W (CLASS 2)

SKU: 24DIMP80

Brand: LED MONTREAL

Dim your LED strips with the wall switch you already have. The 24V Universal Dimmable LED Driver 80W (Class 2) from LED MONTREAL, SKU 24DIMP80, is the power supply that finally makes low-voltage tape light behave like a normal light fixture. Whether you call it an LED driver, a dimmable transformer, a constant voltage power supply or simply a 24V block for ruban LED, this is the piece that turns your 120V house wiring into clean, steady 24V power — and lets a standard wall dimmer control it. It was designed for single-colour 24V LED strip lighting: under-cabinet runs, cove and ceiling coves, toe-kick and stair lighting, closets, display cases, shelving, backlit mirrors and headboards.

The numbers are straightforward. Input is 100–120V AC, output is 24V 3.33A, 80W, which means one driver can feed a healthy run of single-colour tape. It is a Class 2 unit and carries cETLus certification for Canada and the USA, so it satisfies inspectors on both sides of the border. Dimming works with any recent standard wall dimmer — Triac or low-voltage magnetic — and takes your strips smoothly from 100% down to 20% without buzzing or flickering. Better still, it needs no minimum load, so short accent runs dim just as nicely as long ones. The power supply measures 23 cm x 7 cm x 4.5 cm and comes with a junction box measuring 37.7 cm x 7.5 cm x 5.3 cm, keeping connections tidy and code-friendly.

This driver is at home in kitchens, basements, bathrooms, retail counters, restaurants, offices and condo renovations across Canada — anywhere you want warm, adjustable accent light on the same dimmer as the rest of the room. One important note before you order: it is strictly for single-colour LED strips. If your project uses RGB, RGBW or CCT-changing tape, dimming has to be handled by the LED controller with a non-dimmable driver instead; the same is true if you want to run single-colour strips through a controller. Match it to your 24V single-colour tape, check the full technical spec sheet in the Documentation tab, and add the 24DIMP80 to your next lighting project.

Built for real installations
The 24V Universal Dimmable LED Driver 80W is a constant voltage LED driver supplied with its own junction box, which is exactly what electricians and serious DIYers want to see. The power supply itself measures 23 cm x 7 cm x 4.5 cm and slips into the junction box measuring 37.7 cm x 7.5 cm x 5.3 cm, so line-voltage connections stay enclosed and organized instead of dangling behind a cabinet. That format makes it easy to mount above a ceiling, inside a cabinet soffit, in a mechanical room or in a millwork chase, close to the strip run it feeds.

Dimming that actually behaves
Most complaints about dimmable LED drivers come down to noise, flicker and dead zones at the bottom of the dial. This unit was engineered around a simple promise: work with any recent standard 120V wall dimmer, Triac or low-voltage magnetic, and glide from 100% to 20% smoothly and silently. It also requires no minimum load, which is the detail that saves small projects — a two-metre run under a vanity or a single shelf of display lighting will dim properly instead of stuttering or refusing to turn on. You keep the wall control your client already understands, and your LED strip lighting finally feels like architectural lighting.

Compatibility — read this first
This driver is strictly for single-colour 24V LED strips. If your project calls for RGB, RGBW or CCT-variable tape, the dimming must be handled by the LED controller and you will need a non-dimmable driver instead. The same rule applies if you choose to run single-colour strips through a controller: controller first, non-dimmable driver behind it. Sizing is just as simple — add up the wattage of the strip you plan to connect and keep it within the 80W output, leaving yourself a little headroom. For longer runs, several drivers can be distributed along the project, each with its own wall dimmer circuit, which also keeps voltage drop under control.

Where it gets used and what comes with it
Kitchen under-cabinet and toe-kick lighting, cove lighting in living rooms and condo ceilings, stair and hallway accents, walk-in closets, bathroom mirror and niche lighting, retail shelving, bar fronts, reception desks and display cases — anywhere a single-colour 24V tape needs quiet, dimmable low voltage power. Because it is a Class 2 unit with cETLus certification for Canada and the USA, it fits residential and commercial jobs alike. The complete technical spec sheet (PDF) for the 24V Universal Dimmable LED Driver 80W is available in the Documentation tab of this page, with the input, output and dimension details you will want on hand for your electrician or your permit file.
