Construction and light quality
This RGB LED strip is built for real installations, not just décor accents. The flexible circuit board uses 2 ounces of copper, which helps carry current cleanly along the full 5 meter run, and the LEDs themselves are Epistar 5050 RGB SMD chips spaced at 30 LEDs per meter. Each 5050 chip holds a red, a green and a blue emitter in one package, so colour mixing happens right at the source instead of looking like three separate rows of light. The 120° lighting angle is wide enough to wash a cove, a soffit or the underside of a cabinet evenly. Keep in mind that an RGB chip does not create a true white — it can approximate one by combining all three colours, but if you want crisp task lighting you should run a dedicated white strip alongside it.

Electrical and installation details
Running at 24V DC rather than 12V means less voltage drop over a long run, which is exactly what you want on a full 5 metre roll. Size your driver from the recommended 9W per meter figure, not from the 7.2W/m draw, so the power supply always has headroom. The strip arrives with a 4 pin male connector (17cm) at one end and a 4 pin female connector (17cm) at the other, so linking it to a controller or to a second run is quick. You can shorten it at the marked cut points every 6 LEDs (165.5mm) and use the 3M self-adhesive backing on a clean, dry, degreased surface — aluminum profiles or channels make the bond last longer and give the strip a finished, built-in look. Heat dissipation is not necessary unless the strip is used in a commercial environment, where a profile or heat sink is the smart move.
Control, dimming and compatibility
The strip is dimmable with a low voltage controller/remote combo, which is also what unlocks the colour changing. The number of colours and effects you get depends entirely on the RGB controller you choose, so pick one that matches how you want to run the lights — wall remote, app, or an inline controller hidden in a cabinet. This is a strip only product: the 24V DC power supply, the RGB controller and any extension wire or connectors are separate items, and everything you add must be rated for 24V DC to match.
Applications and documentation
With its iP65+ rating, the strip is suitable for dry and humid environments, indoor and protected outdoor use — think kitchen and bathroom coves, basement bars, restaurant and salon feature walls, retail display shelving, home theatres, stair nosings, and sheltered porch or covered deck details. It is a favourite for boat and RV interiors too, though it is not recommended for the exterior of a boat or vehicle. In a Canadian basement or garage, remember the operating range of 40C to -10C when choosing where it lives.
