Built for bright, even colour
This 5-meter roll uses Epistar 5050 RGB SMD chips at a density of 60 LEDs per meter — 300 diodes in total — mounted on a 2-ounce copper circuit board. That heavier copper matters: it carries current more comfortably along the full run and helps pull heat away from the diodes, which is a big part of why this high output RGB led strip is rated for 50,000+ hours. The strip is 12mm wide and only 4.25mm high, so it tucks into coves, reveals and cabinet undersides without being seen, and the 3M self-adhesive backing lets you press it into place on clean, dry surfaces in minutes.
Light quality and colour mixing
Every 5050 chip contains a red, a green and a blue emitter. Driven by a low voltage RGB controller, those three channels blend into roughly two million possible colours, and the exact palette you get depends on the controller you choose. The 120° lighting angle throws a wide, soft wash rather than a narrow line of dots, which is what you want behind a headboard, above a bar or inside a cove. Keep in mind that an RGB chip does not create a true white: if the space also needs clean task or ambient white light, run a dedicated white LED strip alongside it.

Wiring, installation and compatibility
This is a 24V DC strip, so it needs a low voltage driver — size it using the 18W/m recommended power supply figure and the length you actually install. A 4-pin male connector (17cm) comes on one end and a 4-pin female connector (17cm) on the other, which makes joining sections or reaching a controller much simpler than soldering in place. Cut only on the marked points, every 6 LEDs (100mm), and always cut with the power off. Dimming and colour changes are handled by a low voltage RGB controller/remote combo rather than a standard wall dimmer. Heat dissipation is not strictly necessary, but installing the strip on a heat-dissipating surface or inside an appropriate aluminum channel is recommended and gives a cleaner, more professional finish.
Where it works and what's documented
The iP65+ construction suits dry and humid environments, indoor and protected outdoor use — think covered porches, three-season rooms, bathrooms outside the shower zone, or a boat and RV interior. It is not meant for the exposed exterior of a boat or vehicle. Real-world jobs include kitchen cabinet accents, basement home theatres, bar fronts, retail shelving and display cases, gym and games rooms, restaurant bulkheads and event spaces where the colour needs to change with the mood. With an operating range of 40C to -10C, it handles Canadian garages and unheated but sheltered spaces.
