Built for colour, built to lastThis RGB roll uses Epistar 3535 RGB SMD chips, where red, green and blue diodes sit inside a single package so the colours mix cleanly instead of separating into streaks. The chips are mounted on a 2-ounce copper circuit board, a heavier build that helps carry current and move heat away from the diodes along the full 5 meters. The strip is 12 mm wide and only 2 mm high, so it hides inside shallow coves, cabinet valances and slim aluminum extrusions, and the 3M self-adhesive backing lets you position it quickly before securing the channel. Expect 50 000+ hours of service from the Epistar chipset.
Light quality and densityWith
120 LEDs per meter and a 120° lighting angle, this is a high-density
RGB LED strip: the individual points of light overlap much sooner than on a low-density tape, which is exactly what you want for cove lighting, under-cabinet lighting and any surface where a row of dots would ruin the effect. Behind a deep diffuser, the result reads as a continuous bar of colour rather than a string of LEDs. Red, green and blue can be driven individually or mixed through a controller to produce the full colour range, static or in scenes.

Wiring, heat and installationThe strip runs on
24V DC, so size your driver from the recommended 22.5W/m and multiply by the length you actually install. Four wires (17 cm) come pre-attached on each end — common plus red, green and blue — which makes it easy to feed from either side or to continue a run without soldering the input. Cuts are made every 6 LEDs, at the 50 mm marks only. There are no connectors available for this strip, so runs should be planned on paper first; soldering is the way to join or extend sections, and a custom RGB LED bar can be assembled for you. Most important: this is an 18W/m tape and it must be installed on a heat-dissipating surface or inside an appropriate
aluminum channel — never directly on wood, plastic or inside a closed cavity.
Where it works and what to pair it withUse it for basement ceiling coves, home theatre soffits, kitchen under-cabinet accents, bedroom headboards and staircase lines at home; for bar fronts, display counters, retail window displays, salon mirrors and reception desks in commercial spaces. Control comes from a low voltage RGB controller/remote combo, which handles both the colour changes and the dimming. For a clean, dot-free, neon-style finish and the heat sinking the strip needs, mount it in the
8 feet aluminum U shape profile for LED strip (LUX740). The full technical PDF for this strip is available in the Documentation tab for your electrician, designer or permit file.
