The LUX740 is a U shape (surface) channel machined from extruded aluminum, the material of choice for LED strip lighting because it does two jobs at once: it protects and frames the tape, and it pulls heat away from the LEDs. A strip glued straight onto wood, drywall or melamine traps that heat; inside an aluminum profile it dissipates, which helps preserve brightness and colour consistency over the life of the installation. The open U section also gives you a clean channel to route the strip, keeping it perfectly straight instead of wavy — the detail that separates a professional job from a weekend fix.

Strip compatibility and diffusers
This profile is made to fit an IP20 LED strip, an IP65+ strip or certain IP67 strips, which makes it unusually versatile: the same channel serves a dry indoor cove and a protected exterior application such as a soffit or a covered patio ceiling. Before ordering, simply compare your tape's width and thickness — including the silicone jacket on waterproof versions — with the 18.7 mm by 11.5 mm section of the channel. On the diffuser side, you have a selection to choose from: the clear diffuser is prized for its very high light transmission when you want maximum output, while frosted styles blend the individual diodes into one continuous line of light, ideal at eye level or where the strip is directly visible.
Installation, accessories and cutting
Mounting is straightforward. Fix the profile with the optional aluminum clips screwed to the surface — the channel then snaps in and can be removed later for service — or run our sturdy double-sided tape along the flat back for a no-drill install on smooth, clean surfaces. Aluminum cuts easily with a mitre saw or a fine-tooth hacksaw, so you can shorten a bar to the exact run you need; deburr the cut edge and finish it with an end cap. Matching closed and open end caps are available, the open cap letting your power lead or connector exit discreetly. Keep in mind that the quantity of caps and clips selected in the product options is multiplied by the number of bars ordered.
