Construction and chip quality
The heart of this tape is the Epistar 3014 SMD diode, mounted on its side along the edge of the flexible circuit so the emission travels horizontally rather than face-up. At 60 LEDs per metre, the diodes sit close enough to blend into a continuous line of light inside a diffuser or a shallow cove. The circuit itself measures 8mm wide and 2mm thick, which is what makes it so easy to tuck into millwork rabbets, behind trim or along the inside of a curved bulkhead. With 300 LEDs across the 5 metre roll, you have plenty of length for a full room of accent work, and cut marks every 3 LEDs (5cm) let you tailor each segment without waste.
Light output and colour
Typical luminous flux is 500 lumens per metre, spread through a 120 degree lighting angle, which is the sweet spot for accent and cove work: bright enough to draw the eye to a shelf or a stair, soft enough that it never competes with your main ceiling fixtures. The family is offered in 3000K, 4500K and 6000K, so you can match warm residential rooms or cooler commercial displays. Luminous flux will vary slightly depending on the Kelvin degrees chosen. The strip is dimmable using a remote, a wall panel or a dimmable power supply, which is how most people fine-tune a cove from full brightness down to a quiet evening glow.

Electrical and installation notes
This is a low voltage 12V product, so it must be fed by a Class 2 transformer sized for your run: at 6W per metre, add up your total metres and choose a driver with headroom, following the 7.2W per metre recommendation. Clean and dry the mounting surface before applying the adhesive backing, and press firmly along the whole length. Cut only on the marked lines every 3 LEDs, and respect the polarity when you solder or clip a connector. Because it is a side emitting LED strip, the mounting face is what you glue down and the emitting edge is what you aim: mount it on the inside of a curve to wash light up or down, and test the direction before committing the tape. With an IP20 rating, keep it to dry indoor locations; it is not intended for wet or exposed areas.
Applications and documentation
Think of the places where a standard top-emitting tape shines in the wrong direction: the underside of a floating shelf where you want light on the objects and not on the shelf above, a stair stringer that should wash the treads, a curved reception desk, a display case with a narrow glass edge, a cove that has to graze a textured wall. Residential projects love it for bedrooms, living rooms and basement built-ins; commercial projects use it for boutique shelving, conference rooms and office reception areas. The full technical spec sheet for this indoor LED strip is available in the Documentation tab, with the model reference, certification and electrical data you need for your submittals and inspections.
