12V DC HARDWIRED LED DRIVER - 12W (1A)

12V DC HARDWIRED LED DRIVER - 12W (1A)

SKU: HW12V-12W

Brand: LED MONTREAL

Looking for a small, reliable 12V LED driver that disappears inside your cabinetry? The HW12V-12W is a hardwired LED driver — also called a constant voltage LED power supply or LED transformer — that turns household line voltage into clean 12V DC for LED tape lighting. It is sized for short, modest runs: under-cabinet strips, a lit shelf, a toe-kick accent or a display case, where you want steady light without a plug-in adapter hanging off an outlet.

This 12W LED driver accepts 100-130VaC 50/60Hz (0.15A) and delivers a regulated 12Vdc output at 1A, so your tape stays even from one end to the other instead of dimming or flickering. The housing measures 9.5 cm including brackets x 3.65 cm x 2 cm, small enough for a cabinet carcass, a light valance or a millwork void, and the two moulded mounting brackets let you screw it straight to wood, MDF or metal. Separate screw-in ports keep the AC input apart from the DC output, and the unit carries cETLus certification for the Canadian and US markets. It is non-dimmable: do not place it after an AC wall dimmer.

It shines in Canadian kitchens, bathrooms, closets and retail displays, anywhere a short 12V LED strip needs a hidden power source. It powers single colour LED strips directly and RGB LED strips through an RGB controller placed between the driver and the tape; to dim a single colour run, use an inline 12V dimmer on the low-voltage side. Contractors and homeowners alike appreciate how quickly it mounts. Choose the HW12V-12W for tidy, cord-free under-cabinet lighting and wire it in today.

A compact driver built to stay out of sight
The whole idea of a hardwired LED driver is that nobody ever sees it. The HW12V-12W is a 12V compact LED driver (model DR-CV-12-12) whose footprint of 9.5 cm including brackets x 3.65 cm x 2 cm tucks behind a valance, above a soffit or inside a cabinet where every centimetre is already taken. Its two brackets are moulded into the housing, so there are no straps, no double-sided tape and no rattling box: two screws and it stays put.

Clean, stable 12V power for LED tape
LED strips do not run on line voltage; they need a steady low-voltage supply. This constant voltage driver converts 100-130VaC 50/60Hz to a regulated 12Vdc, 1A output, which keeps light output and colour consistent along the run. Because it is a non-dimmable LED driver, it must never be wired downstream of an AC wall dimmer. If you want dimming on a single colour strip, install an inline 12V dimmer or controller on the DC side of the driver instead.

Wiring and installation
Two distinct screw-in ports separate the AC input from the DC output, removing any guesswork on site. Both accept solid conductors of 14 AWG and smaller — 16, 18 or 20 AWG — so you can match the gauge to the run. On the 12V side, 16 AWG multi-braid wire lets you place the driver up to 12 feet from the LED strip without visible brightness loss, handy when the only accessible junction box sits at the far end of the cabinets. Hardwiring means no wall wart and no cord to route through a cabinet back. As with any line-voltage connection, follow local electrical code and use a licensed electrician where required.

Compatibility, uses and documentation
Use this driver with single colour 12V LED tape for under-cabinet kitchens, bathroom vanities, closet shelving, bookcases and small showcase displays. It also feeds 12V RGB LED strips when an RGB controller is installed between the driver and the strip to manage the colours. Keep the connected tape well within the 12W rating for a cool, long-lasting installation. The full technical spec sheet, with input, output and dimension details, is available in the Documentation tab.
