MEAN WELL OUTDOOR 24V DC POWER SUPPLY 200W 8.3A (XLG-200-24-A)

SKU: XLG24V200

Brand: LED MONTREAL

Some projects simply ask for more power, and that's exactly where the MEAN WELL Outdoor 24V DC Power Supply 200W 8.3A (XLG-200-24-A) comes in. Call it a 24V LED driver, an outdoor LED transformer, a constant-voltage power supply or simply a "LED power box" — it's the piece that turns your building's line voltage into the steady 24V direct current your professional lighting load needs. It's built for the demanding side of the trade: large-scale outdoor LED lighting systems, architectural façade washes, illuminated signage and channel letters, parking and grounds lighting, and commercial installations where several fixtures run from one central point. SKU XLG24V200.

This is a serious piece of hardware with real numbers behind it. It accepts an input of 100 – 120V AC and delivers a clean 24V DC output rated 8.33A for a total of 200W, which gives a professional installer plenty of headroom to feed a substantial run of 24V LED product from a single unit. It carries cURus certification for Canada and the USA, so it belongs in projects that have to answer to an inspector. It is a non-dimmable driver, so plan your control strategy accordingly — switching, relays or fixture-level control rather than a wall dimmer on the input side. Important: this is a Class 1 transformer. It is not intended for standard low-voltage LED strips. Powerful drivers like this one are reserved for professional LED applications where the load is divided through recognized fuses and where the installation is inspected and recertified by an accredited body (UL, Intertek, QPS or similar) — your electrician does not have the authority to close out that inspection alone.

Where does it shine? Municipal and commercial sites across Canada: outdoor sign lighting and backlit lettering, landscape and garden lighting on large properties, deck, walkway and grounds lighting, warehouse yards, and architectural accents that have to survive a Québec or Vancouver winter. If your project is a home deck, a kitchen valance or a basement 24V LED strip run, choose a Class 2 driver instead — low-voltage LED strips must be fed by a transformer of maximum 96W at 24V (or 60W at 12V) to make a code-compliant installation with no special inspection. For everything bigger, engineered and inspected, the XLG-200-24-A is the workhorse to specify. Add it to your project list today.

Built for outdoor duty
The MEAN WELL XLG-200-24-A is an outdoor-rated constant-voltage LED power supply designed to live outside the comfort of a mechanical room. It is the unit specifiers reach for when a lighting run has to be fed from a pole base, a service wall, a sign cabinet or a landscape vault rather than from a tidy indoor panel. Because it is a 24V DC power supply, it pairs with the whole world of 24V professional LED product — linear grazers, sign modules, in-ground and façade fixtures — as long as the total connected load and the circuit protection are engineered properly by the person designing the job.

Electrical and installation notes
Feed the unit from a 100 – 120V AC branch circuit and take your 24V DC output to the load with conductors sized for the run length and current — voltage drop is the number one cause of dim or colour-shifted ends on long 24V runs, so keep home runs short or split the load across multiple feeds. With 8.33A available at 24V, most designers keep the connected load comfortably below the full 200W to leave thermal and inrush margin. The driver is not dimmable, so any dimming has to happen downstream in the fixtures or through a separate controlled architecture; a simple contactor, timer or photocell on the AC input handles on/off scheduling nicely for signage and grounds lighting.

Class 1 — read this before you order
This transformer is a Class 1 device and it is not intended for ordinary low-voltage LED strips. Powerful drivers of this type are reserved for professional LED applications that involve load division through recognized fuses, plus inspection and recertification of the finished installation by an accredited body (UL, Intertek, QPS or similar); a licensed electrician alone does not have the authority to complete that recertification. For residential LED strip lighting and most small commercial jobs, the compliant path is a Class 2 driver — a maximum of 96W at 24V or 60W at 12V per output — which keeps the installation within the electrical code with no special inspection. Multi-output 24V drivers with several 96W outputs exist precisely for those larger strip projects that still need to stay Class 2.

Applications and documentation
Think illuminated outdoor signs and channel letters, architectural lighting on commercial façades, parking lot and pathway accents, landscape and garden lighting on estate-sized properties, dock and marina lighting, and industrial yard installations — the kind of Canadian projects that face freeze-thaw cycles, road salt and long dark winters. Contractors also use the XLG-200-24-A as a central supply in retail build-outs where a single feed serves many 24V fixtures behind a coordinated design. The technical PDF for this model is available in the Documentation tab of this page; download it before rough-in so your electrical designer can confirm circuit protection, load division and mounting details for the installation.
