Built to disappear into the job
The HW24V-12W is a 24V compact LED driver housed in a grey junction box designed to be hidden rather than admired. Its small footprint is what makes it so useful in cabinetry: it slips under a cabinet, inside a toe-kick, behind a valance or into a casework void. The two molded brackets let you screw it securely in place, and because it is a hardwired LED power supply, the finished installation reads as truly built-in — no cord, no wall wart, no outlet to hide.
Steady 24V power for LED strips
LED tape needs a regulated low-voltage source. This constant voltage driver converts 100 - 120V AC into a 24V, 0.5A, 12W output, keeping brightness and colour consistent along the strip. Running LED tape at 24V is a popular choice for longer cabinet and cove runs, and this driver supplies exactly that voltage for smaller zones. Because it is not dimmable, never wire it after an AC wall dimmer; if you need dimming, plan for a low-voltage controller on the DC side instead.
Wiring and installation details
Two distinct screw-in ports separate the AC input from the DC output, which removes guesswork on site and keeps connections clean. Both ports accept solid wires of 14 AWG and smaller — 16, 18 or 20 AWG — so you can use the gauge your run calls for. With 16 AWG multi-braid wire on the 24V DC output, the driver can sit up to 12 feet away from the LEDs it feeds without a visible drop in brightness. That lets you place it where it stays serviceable: an adjacent cabinet, a ceiling access point or a base cabinet. The line-voltage side should be completed by a qualified electrician, following local Canadian electrical code.
Technical specifications
SKU: HW24V-12W
Input: 100 - 120V AC
Output: 24V 0.5A 12W
Junction box colour: Grey
Dimmable: No
Certification: cETLus for Canada and USA
Compatibility and sizing
This is a 24V DC power supply, so it pairs with 24V LED products only: 24V single-colour LED strip and 24V RGB strip both work. For RGB tape, an RGB controller goes between the driver and the strip; the driver provides the power, the controller handles the colour. Sizing is simple arithmetic: multiply the watts per foot or per metre of your tape by its length and stay within the 12W output of this model.
