Built around Chip On Board technology
Instead of a handful of individual diodes, this BA15S LED COB bulb uses 4 Chip On Board modules populated with 33 x 5730 chips. Spreading the light across four faces gives you a wide, even spread from a small body rather than a single hot spot pointed at the ceiling, which is exactly what you want inside a dome fixture or a frosted lens. The 5730 chip is well known for its brightness and reliability, and because it generates next to no heat, the bulb stays comfortable to handle and is far kinder to the plastic lenses and wood-trimmed fixtures found throughout RVs and campers.
Light output and colour
Output is rated at 385 lumens for only 5W, which makes it a good replacement for a 40W incandescent 1156 bulb while pulling a fraction of the amps from your battery. Two colour temperatures are available: 3000K warm white, the friendly, relaxed tone most people want in a lounge area, over a dinette or in a bedroom; and 6000K cool white, a bright, daylight-like white that helps in the galley, at the bathroom mirror, in a cargo trailer or in any workspace where you need to see details. Many owners mix both: warm in the living space, cool where they work.

Installation and compatibility
Installation is about as simple as it gets: cut the 12V circuit at the panel or switch, let the old bulb cool, push and twist it out of the bayonet socket, then push and twist the LED in its place. The BA15S base is a single-contact, 15 mm bayonet — make sure your fixture isn't a double-contact type, and confirm your fixture's interior clears 50.5 mm in height and 17.5 mm in width, since some shallow dome lights are tight. The bulb is designed for 12V DC systems: RV and trailer house batteries, marine banks, solar setups with a 12V controller, and 12V circuits fed by a converter. It is dimmable, so it can be paired with the low-voltage dimmers and rotary controls already used in many coaches; as with any LED retrofit, try one bulb on your dimmer first to confirm smooth behaviour across the range.
Where it earns its keep, and documentation
Think ceiling dome lights, bunk and reading lamps, vanity fixtures, closet, pantry and basement-storage lights, step and awning lights on motorhomes, fifth wheels, travel trailers and camper vans — plus boats, cargo and horse trailers, food trucks, ice-fishing cabins, off-grid cottages and any 12V accent or task light a contractor is wiring for a client. For seasonal Canadian use, the -35 to +55°C operating range means it keeps working when the trailer has been sitting cold all week. Suitable for residential and commercial projects. The full technical spec sheet for model 1156V2 is available in the Documentation tab, so you can check dimensions and ratings against your fixtures before you order.
