A strip built like no otherThe 2216-SOB isn't a small tweak on the usual
LED strip lighting recipe — it's a different way of building a strip. Made with Reel to Reel technology, a continuous manufacturing process, it has far fewer solder joints than a conventional tape. The result is better long-term reliability, more uniform conductivity along the run, a reduced risk of connection failure, more consistent light output from end to end and a cleaner, more professional finish. The board itself uses 3 ounces of copper, which helps carry current over long runs and pull heat away from the Epistar 2216 SOB chips. At 10mm wide and just 2.5mm high, the SOB10 hides easily in millwork, coves and slim aluminum channels.
Light quality you can seeWith 320 LEDs per meter, the diodes sit so close together that the strip reads as a continuous line rather than a string of dots — that's the whole point of a
SOB (Spot On Board) LED strip. Typical output is 1700 lumens per meter (slightly variable depending on the Kelvin chosen) in a 3000K warm white that flatters wood, stone and skin tones. The
CRI 90+ rendering keeps colours honest, which matters enormously in kitchens, bathrooms, closets and retail displays where people judge colour. A 180° lighting angle spreads the light broadly, so a single run in a cove or under a cabinet washes the surface evenly instead of leaving hot spots.

Wiring, dimming and installationEach reel arrives with 2 wires (1 meter) on one end and 2 wires (1 meter) on the other end, so you can feed power from either side or bridge two sections without fuss. Size your driver using the recommended 18W per meter rather than the 15W draw, to keep a safety margin: a full 5-meter reel therefore needs a 24V DC supply sized accordingly. The strip is
dimmable either with a low voltage dimmer/remote combo on the DC side, or with a dimmable power supply controlled by a 120V AC dimmer on the line side. Heat dissipation is not optional: the SOB10 must be installed on a heat dissipating surface or inside an appropriate
aluminum channel. The 3M adhesive backing holds it in place while you work, and the 6.25mm cut increment lets you trim the lit length to the exact size of your profile, eliminating the dark ends you normally see when the strip is shorter than the extrusion.
Applications, compatibility and documentationThink under-cabinet kitchen lighting, a warm cove around a living-room ceiling, bathroom vanity and mirror surrounds, stair nosings, walk-in closet shelving, reception desks, bar fronts, boutique display cases and office feature walls — residential and commercial alike. Because it is
IP20, keep it indoors and dry. For a finished look and the required heat sinking, pair it with the
8 feet aluminum U shape profile for LED strip (LUX740), whose length can be matched precisely thanks to the fine cut spacing. Remember this listing is the
strip only: power supply, dimmer and profile are purchased separately. Full details, including the complete technical PDF for the 24V 5M IP20 2216-SOB single colour LED strip, are available in the Documentation tab of this page.
