Built for colour, built to last
The heart of this tape is the Epistar 5050 RGB SMD chip. Each chip holds a red, a green and a blue emitter in one package, and blending them at different intensities is what gives you millions of possible colours. The flexible circuit board carries 2 ounces of copper, which helps move heat and current through long runs far better than thin economy boards, and it is one of the reasons this version is called high output. At 10 mm wide and 2 mm high, the strip slips into almost any aluminum channel, cove or cabinet lip, and the 3M self-adhesive backing holds it in place on clean, dry, smooth surfaces. Rated lifespan is 50 000+ hours.

Electrical and installation details
The strip runs on 24V DC, so it always needs a low voltage power supply — never wire it to line voltage. Size the driver using the recommended 9W/m figure rather than the 7.2W/m draw, so the supply has headroom. Connections are already in place: a 4 pin male connector (17cm) on one end and a 4 pin female connector (17cm) on the other, which makes joining sections or reaching the controller simple. Need a custom length? Cut only on the marked points, every 6 LEDs (165.5mm), and respect polarity and the R, G, B pads when you solder or use a clip connector. Heat dissipation is not necessary in a normal residential install, unless the tape is used in a commercial environment, where an aluminum profile is the smart move.
Dimming, controllers and compatibility
This tape is dimmable with a low voltage controller/remote combo, which is also what selects and mixes your colours; the number of shades you can reach depends on the controller you choose, from simple remotes to wall-mounted or app-driven units. It is not designed for standard wall dimmers on the AC side. Remember that an RGB chip does not create a true white — mixing all three channels gives a pale tinted light, not a clean white — so for tasks like kitchen counters or reading, pair this colour tape with a dedicated white strip or pick an RGBW product. Any 24V RGB controller and any 24V power supply with enough wattage for your total run will work.
Where it shines, and the paperwork
Homeowners use this RGB LED tape for coves and tray ceilings, under kitchen cabinets, behind TVs and headboards, along stair nosings, in basements, games rooms and home theatres, and to light up a home bar. Businesses run it in restaurants and lounges, salons, retail display cases, reception desks and party rooms. Boat and RV owners love it inside their cabins, though it must stay inside — the iP20 rating means no rain, no splashes, no outdoor use, and the operating range is 40C to -10C, which matters in Canadian garages and unheated spaces.
