Built from 6063T-5 aluminumThe 85 Series body is extruded from
6063T-5 aluminum, an architectural alloy chosen for straight, stable lengths and good thermal behaviour. That matters more than most people expect: an LED strip left on wood, drywall or plastic traps its own heat, while an aluminum extrusion acts as a heat sink and helps the diodes hold their brightness and colour over the life of the installation. The profile also protects the tape from dust, accidental contact and the odd bump from a vacuum or a broom handle — a small detail that saves a lot of callbacks on stair and toe-kick installations. The surface can be painted to match your decor, so the channel disappears into a ceiling, a bulkhead or a custom cabinet.

Lens, mounting and endcap optionsThe 85 Series is built around an ordering guide, so the channel can be configured for the look you want. The
lens is offered in OP (opaque) or BK (black), the
mounting in ST (standard) or SW (swivel), and the
endcaps in NH (no hole), WH (with hole) or PA (one of each) so the cable can exit exactly where your driver sits. The body itself comes in AL (plain aluminum), BK (black), WH (white) or CU (custom). An opaque lens is what smooths a line of individual diodes into a continuous glow — the difference between "I can count the LEDs" and a clean band of light above a kitchen island or along a retail shelf.
Installation and wiringBecause the extrusion can be
surface-mounted, suspended or glued, it fits almost any substrate: screw it to a wood cove, clip it under an upper cabinet, bond it to a metal panel or hang it over a workbench. Cut the channel to length with a mitre saw and a fine-tooth blade, clean the inside, then press your tape into the base before snapping on the lens and the endcaps. Plan your low-voltage feed first — a with-hole endcap keeps the wire tidy and out of sight — and keep driver placement accessible for service. For outdoor or damp installations, protect the connection points and choose a strip rated for the environment.
Applications and documentationThink cove and tray ceilings in Canadian homes, under-cabinet task light in kitchens, stair and hallway guidance in basements, closet and pantry shelving, plus commercial work: display cases, bar fronts, salon mirrors, reception desks, corridor accents and illuminated signage. For long runs, add sections from the
16 ft black profile #85, or go with the
16 ft black profile with opaque lens when you want the diffuser included. The
16 ft aluminum version with opaque lens is the same section in a natural finish. The complete
technical spec sheet, with the drawing and the full ordering guide, is available in the Documentation tab of this page.
