Built from real extruded aluminum
The 84 Series is made of 6063T-5 aluminum, the classic architectural extrusion alloy: rigid enough to stay perfectly straight over a long run, soft enough to cut to length on site with a mitre saw and a fine-tooth blade. The walls of the channel act as a heat sink for the LED tape mounted inside, which is the single best thing you can do for the lifespan and colour stability of a strip. The white finish on this SKU is ready to install as-is, and because the extrusion can be painted, you can match it to a ceiling colour, a cabinet door or an accent wall when the profile stays visible. It can be installed both indoors and outdoors, which opens the door to soffits, covered porches and sheltered patios as well as interior millwork.

Light quality and strip compatibility
A bare LED strip shows every diode as a hot spot; drop it into a channel with a lens and you get a smoother, more comfortable line of light. The 84 Series accommodates and protects the majority of our LED strips, in white as well as coloured RGB and RGBW versions, so the same profile can serve a warm under-cabinet run in a kitchen and a colour-changing cove in a basement theatre. The ordering guide offers an opaque lens for diffusion or a black lens when you want the channel to stay visually quiet during the day. Endcaps are chosen to suit the run: no hole where the profile finishes flush, with hole where the wire has to exit, or one of each for a typical single-feed installation.
Electrical and installation notes
The profile itself is a mechanical housing — it carries no wiring and no driver. Plan your low-voltage feed and your power supply according to the LED strip you select, keep the run within the strip manufacturer's maximum length, and bring the wire out through an endcap with hole or through a notch cut at the back of the channel. Because this is the thinnest profile of the family, it is the one that solves the "there's no room" problem: under a cabinet with a shallow apron, inside a stair nosing, along a slim reveal, in a picture rail or behind a headboard. Surface mount with standard mounting hardware, keep your screws away from the strip channel, clean the inside before applying the tape, and press the strip down evenly for good thermal contact.
Applications, sizing and documentation
Homeowners use it for under-cabinet kitchen lighting, vanity and mirror surrounds, closet shelving, stairs and hallway coves. Contractors and small businesses use it for retail display cases, boutique shelving, reception desks, restaurant bars and office millwork, where an 8-foot stick often matches a single cabinet bank or a counter length with minimal waste; for longer uninterrupted runs, the 16-foot version or custom fabrication up to 192 inches avoids extra joints. The technical PDF spec sheet for this profile, with the full technical drawing, dimensions and the complete ordering guide for colour, lens, mounting and endcaps, is available in the Documentation tab of this page — a handy reference when you are drawing your millwork shop drawings or confirming clearances before you order.
