What this accessory actually doesA track head is only as good as its optic. The
AST LENS FOR 10W - WF55 is a secondary lens that mounts over the light-emitting face of a 10W AST track head and converts its native beam into a WF55 wide-flood distribution. Instead of a concentrated circle of light, you get a broad, feathered pool that overlaps nicely with the next head on the run. That overlap is what creates the smooth, gallery-quality wall wash retailers and designers are after, and it is also what eliminates the "cheetah spots" effect on a long
track lighting run.

Installation and electrical notesBecause this is a passive optical accessory, there is nothing to wire. The lens is installed directly on the fixture head, typically during commissioning or afterwards when the space is finished and you can finally judge the light. No driver, no connector and no change to the circuit is involved, so the electrical characteristics of the head — its wattage, its input voltage and its dimming compatibility — stay exactly as specified by the luminaire itself. On a practical level, that means an electrician can rough in and energize the track, then a store manager or homeowner can change the beam later without calling anyone back. Always de-energize the track before handling a head that has been on, simply because LED heads get warm in use.
Compatibility with the AST systemThis lens is part of the AST family and is intended for the 10W AST head only; it is not a universal lens for other fixture diameters. The heads themselves ride on AST H-type single-circuit 120V track, which comes in several lengths and two finishes so you can match ceilings, beams or exposed conduit:
AST track 2 ft black,
AST track 4 ft black,
AST track 6 ft white and
AST track 12 ft white. Plan your head spacing first, then decide how many wide-flood lenses you need — many projects mix narrow heads over merchandise with WF55 lenses over the perimeter walls.
Where it earns its keepThink of a clothing boutique where the back wall needs an even sheet of light rather than five bright circles; a café where the menu board and the seating area need different beam widths from the same track; a home office or open-concept living room where a
linear track run doubles as general lighting; or a small gallery where artwork sizes change every month. In Canadian retrofits, where ceilings are often low and track runs sit close to the wall, a wide-flood optic is frequently the difference between a usable layout and a re-aim marathon. No spec sheet, IES file or video is listed for this accessory in the Documentation tab — if your project needs photometric data, base it on the 10W AST head's own documentation and add this lens as the wide-flood option.
