AST TRACK - 6 FT - H TYPE - 1 CIRCUIT - 120V - BLACK

AST TRACK - 6 FT - H TYPE - 1 CIRCUIT - 120V - BLACK

SKU: AST-TRK-H-06-BK

Brand: TUROLIGHT

Give your lighting a rail to run on. The AST TRACK - 6 FT - H TYPE - 1 CIRCUIT - 120V - BLACK is the backbone of the ASTELLA track system by TUROLIGHT: a 6-foot black lighting track rail — what people also call a track bar, track channel, commercial track lighting rail or "rail d'éclairage" — that carries power along the ceiling or the wall so you can clip on heads exactly where the light is needed. Because it is an H-type, single circuit track, every head you snap on runs on the same switch leg, which keeps the wiring simple and the control obvious. It is designed for residential and commercial projects alike, from a kitchen island and a stairwell wall to a boutique, a gallery, a café or a showroom where displays move around and the lighting has to move with them.

This section is the 6 ft (H type) version, SKU AST-TRK-H-06-BK, finished in black so it disappears against dark ceilings, exposed structure and industrial-style interiors. It runs on 120V, 60Hz, 20A and is rated Class I, IP20 for dry indoor locations. The track is a 1-circuit (P + N + PE) system with a polarity line moulded along the body, so heads and connectors always go in the right way. The plain back of the rail faces the ceiling or the wall, and the open extruded face accepts lampholders and live-end feeds. Local installation requirements must be respected, and for fire and shock safety only fixture assemblies marked for use with TUROLIGHT track should be installed on it.

Track earns its keep where light needs to be aimed: retail displays and product walls, art and photo hanging, restaurant seating, offices and meeting rooms, basements and open-concept living areas, salons, clinics and small workshops. Mount it to drywall or plaster with the toggle bolts supplied, or straight into wood framing with standard #10 wood screws. This 6-foot rail pairs with the rest of the ASTELLA family so you can build the exact run you need: add a AST track 2 ft H type black, a AST track 4 ft H type black or an AST track 8 ft H type black section, or switch to the white 6 ft version for pale ceilings. Plan your run, order your sections and start aiming light where it matters.

Built as a system, not a one-off fixture
The ASTELLA track by TUROLIGHT is an H-type single-circuit track system, one of the most common track profiles used in North American homes and businesses. The rail carries three conductors — P + N + PE (line, neutral and ground) — inside a single extruded channel, with a polarity line marked on the body so lampholders, connectors and feeds are always oriented correctly. The underside of the profile is open and elongated to receive heads, while the plain back sits flat against the ceiling or the wall. Because it is a one-circuit track, every head on the run is powered and switched together: simple, predictable, and easy for an electrician to commission.

Electrical and safety details
This track operates at 120V, 60Hz with a 20A rating, and is classified Class I, IP20, meaning it is intended for dry indoor locations and relies on a proper ground connection. To reduce the risk of fire and electric shock, only fixture assemblies marked for use with TUROLIGHT track should be installed on it. The power must be shut off at the main panel or fuse box before installing the rail or any accessory, and all local installation requirements must be respected. After all sections and connectors are in place, every open end of the run must receive a dead-end fitting, with the set screws tightened before power is restored.

Installation, step by step
Position the rail over the outlet box and mark the mounting holes on the ceiling or wall. On drywall or plaster, drill 5/8 holes and fix the rail with the toggle bolts supplied; on wood surfaces, use standard #10 wood screws (not supplied). Strip the box wires to 3/8" and secure them to the screw terminals of the live-end connector — no need to wrap the wire around the screw. Before sliding any connector into the open end of the track, loosen its set screws and select the correct ground tab: the ground tabs must be prepared before sliding onto the NON-GROUND conductor-side tab of the section you are joining, and if the wrong tab has been removed, that connector must not be used because grounding would not be maintained. To fit a lampholder, align the polarity lines of the track and of the head, push the top of the mounting adapter (with its contact tabs) into the track slot and turn 90°; if it does not turn easily, do not force it — turn the other way. To remove a head, press the release lever with your index finger and turn 90°. Then switch the main power back on.

Where it works and what goes with it
A 6-foot run is a sweet spot for a kitchen island, a hallway, a dining area, a home office or a feature wall, and it scales up beautifully in retail and commercial spaces: boutiques, galleries, cafés, showrooms, salons and reception areas where merchandise and artwork keep moving. Combine sections to reach the length you want — the 2 ft black track, 4 ft black track and 8 ft black track are part of the same H-type single-circuit family, and the 12 ft version is available when a long uninterrupted run is the goal. The ASTELLA range also includes live-end and dead-end feeds and joiners identified in the installation sheet (AST-TRK-H-LEC, AST-TRK-H-EC, AST-TRK-H-XC, AST-TRK-H-LC, AST-TRK-H-TC, AST-TRK-H-SC, AST-TRK-H-FC, AST-TRK-H-MJ). The full spec sheet and installation instructions for AST-TRK-H-06-BK are available in the Documentation tab — worth a read before you drill your first hole.
