What this accessory doesAn optic changes the shape of the light, not the amount of hardware on your ceiling. The
AST LENS FOR 35W - SP15 is a dedicated
spot lens for the 35W AST track head: drop it into the head's accessory slot and the beam tightens into an SP15 narrow spot. That's the difference between a display that glows and one that simply gets lit. On a run of identical heads, mixing lensed and unlensed fixtures lets you build hierarchy — a bright focal point, softer fill around it — using a single fixture type and a single track circuit.

Installation and handlingThere is no wiring, no driver and no additional load to calculate, so no electrical permit question comes into play for the accessory itself — it simply installs on the
track head. Best practice: cut the power to the track before reaching up, let the head cool if it has been running, and handle the lens by its edges to keep fingerprints off the optical surface. A microfibre cloth is all you need if it gets marked. Because the lens is removable, you can re-aim and re-lens a room seasonally, which is exactly why retailers like this system — new merchandising layout, same ceiling, new light distribution in an afternoon.
Compatibility with the AST systemThis lens is specific to the
35 W AST head; it is not a universal optic, so order one per head you want converted to a narrow spot. The heads themselves ride on the AST H-type single-circuit 120V track, available in several lengths and two finishes:
AST track 2 ft H type 1 circuit 120V white,
AST track 6 ft H type 1 circuit 120V white,
AST track 12 ft H type 1 circuit 120V white and
AST track 6 ft H type 1 circuit 120V black. Choose white track to disappear into a painted ceiling, black to match exposed structure and mechanicals in a loft or restaurant.
Where it earns its keepThink jewellery cases, wine walls, bakery counters, mannequins and end caps in retail; artwork and sculpture in a gallery or a private residence; a
kitchen island or fireplace feature in a renovation; signage and check-in desks in hotels, clinics and offices. A narrow beam also travels better from high ceilings, so it's the right call when the track sits well above the merchandise. No spec sheet, IES file or video is listed in the Documentation tab for this accessory — if your project needs photometric data for the complete assembly, work from the documentation of the 35W AST head it installs on. Add the lenses to your
track lighting order so the heads arrive ready to aim.
