Built for real outdoor conditions
This CDNLUX strip (model MTL-FP8AEIWM-120AXX) is protected to IP67, which is why it handles covered patios, soffits, gazebos and awnings so well. The data sheet is clear about its intended home: dry and humid environments, indoor and protected outdoor use, with an operating range of 40C to -10C. That makes it a reliable choice for a Canadian shoulder season, a screened porch or a garden structure that sees rain and humidity. It is not recommended for pool lighting. The flexible board is a generous 2-ounce copper circuit, which helps the strip run cooler and hold up over long spans, and it carries a 3M self-adhesive backing for fast mounting on clean, dry surfaces.
Light quality you can see
With 120 LEDs per metre of Epistar 3528 SMD chips — 600 diodes over 5 metres — the light reads as a continuous line rather than a row of dots, which is exactly what you want under a cabinet, in a cove or along a sign face. Output is a typical 800 lumens per metre in 4000K Natural White, a neutral tone that looks crisp outdoors and modern indoors, and the CRI 80+ keeps woodwork, brick, signage graphics and food displays looking natural. The 120° beam angle spreads light wide instead of pinning it in a narrow stripe, so you get soft, usable illumination rather than hot spots.

Wiring, dimming and installation
The strip is 24V DC, the format to choose when you want longer runs or extra wiring without watching the brightness fade at the far end. Size your driver on 12W/m as recommended — that is the figure the manufacturer gives for this 9.6W/m LED tape. Each roll comes with a female DC plug (17 cm) on one end and two wires (17 cm) on the other, so you can plug into a matching supply or hard-wire the run. It is dimmable with a low-voltage dimmer/remote combo, or with a dimmable power supply paired with a 120V AC dimmer. You can shorten it every 6 LEDs (50 mm) at the marked cut points. Heat dissipation is not strictly necessary, but the spec sheet recommends installing the strip on a heat-dissipating surface or in an appropriate aluminum channel — a good habit that also gives the run a finished look and protects the tape from knocks.
Where it works and what's documented
Homeowners use this outdoor LED strip to underline a deck railing, brighten a pergola, wash a garden wall under an overhang or add a warm glow to a covered entry; contractors run it in soffits and coves; small businesses light signage, shelving, bars and display cases. Its 10 mm x 5 mm profile slips into tight reveals where a fixture would never fit. The complete technical spec sheet for this product is available in the Documentation tab of this page — worth a quick read before you order your driver and channel, so your run is sized right the first time.
