Four colours in one chip
The heart of this roll is the Epistar 5050 RGB+W SMD 4-in-1 chip. Instead of faking white by mixing red, green and blue — which is what leaves standard RGB tape looking bluish or purple — this strip carries a fourth, dedicated white diode inside each package. Fire the white channel on its own for clean task or ambient light, run the RGB channels for colour scenes, or blend them for pastels and washes. Note that the white channel produces one shade only: here, 4000K natural white. With 60 LEDs per metre and 300 chips across the 5-metre roll, the light output stays dense and even, which is exactly what you want behind a diffuser.
Build and light quality
The flexible circuit board uses 2 ounces of copper, which helps carry current and pull heat away from the diodes over long runs. Typical luminous flux is 400 lumens per metre (it will vary slightly with the kelvin degrees chosen) and the CRI is 80+, so skin tones, wood grain and product colours read naturally under the white channel. The 120° lighting angle throws a wide, soft spread — ideal for cove ceilings and under-cabinet work where you want light to fill, not spotlight. Heat dissipation is not strictly necessary, but installing the strip on a heat-dissipating surface or inside an appropriate aluminum channel is recommended for longevity and a cleaner finished look.

Electrical and installation notes
This is a 24V DC product, so it needs a low-voltage driver — size it at the recommended 18 W/m for the length you actually install, and remember a full 5-metre roll draws 14.4 W/m. The five-conductor wiring (one common plus red, green, blue and white channels) is pre-attached at both ends, 17 cm per side, so you can feed power from whichever end is closest to your driver or run two sections from a central point. Cut only on the marked points, every 6 LEDs (100 mm), then solder or use a 5-pin connector to continue. Clean and dry the surface before pressing down the 3M adhesive backing; for painted drywall, rough wood or ceiling coves, an aluminum profile with a diffuser gives a far more reliable hold and hides the individual diodes. Dimming and colour control are handled by a low-voltage RGB+W controller and remote combo — the strip itself does not respond to line-voltage wall dimmers.
Where it works and what's documented
The iP65+ rating makes this RGB+W LED tape suitable for dry and humid environments, indoor and protected outdoor use, and it operates from 40C to -10C: think kitchens and bathrooms, basement bars, home theatres, retail shelving and display cases, hotel corridors, restaurant soffits, covered porches and pergolas, garage and workshop benches. Contractors like that one product covers both the warm-white daily light a client asks for and the colour-changing show they want for holidays. The cULus listing (E498952) for Canada and the USA keeps the inspection conversation short.
