Built for damp corners and covered outdoor spaces
This 5-metre roll uses Epistar 3528 SMD chips at a density of 60 LEDs per meter, for a total of 300 diodes over the full length. The flexible circuit board is a 2-ounce copper board, which matters more than most people realize: a heavier board carries current with less voltage drop, so the last metre of your run stays as bright as the first. The strip is sealed to IP67, making it suitable for dry and humid environments, indoor and protected outdoor use — think under an awning, inside a gazebo roof, along a soffit or beneath a covered stair. It is not suggested for pool lighting. With a slim 10mm width and 5mm height, it tucks into channels, reveals and tight nooks without being seen, and the 3M self-adhesive backing holds it in place while you work.
Light quality you can live with
Typical output is 400 Lumens per meter at a 4000K Natural White colour temperature — the crisp, neutral tone that reads clean on wood, stone and painted surfaces without looking blue. The CRI of 80+ keeps colours honest, so your cedar stays warm and your signage stays true. The 120° lighting angle spreads illumination broadly, which is exactly what you want for cove lighting, wash effects and long linear accents where visible dots and dark gaps would ruin the look. Rated for 50 000+ hours, it is the kind of LED tape you install once and forget about.

Wiring, dimming and installation
The strip runs on 12V DC and arrives with a female DC plug (17cm) on one end and 2 wires (17cm) on the other, so you can plug into a matching driver or hard-wire into an existing low voltage circuit. Size your transformer on the recommended 6W/m: a full 5-metre roll therefore needs a supply rated accordingly, and it is always wise to leave headroom. Dimming is supported two ways — a low voltage dimmer/remote combo on the 12V side, or a dimmable power supply controlled by a 120V AC dimmer on the line side. Cuts are made every 3 LEDs (50mm) at the marked copper pads; any cut end used outdoors should be resealed to protect the IP67 rating. Heat dissipation is not necessary for typical residential use; in a commercial environment, mounting in an aluminum channel is the safer route.
Where it earns its keep, and the paperwork
Homeowners use this outdoor LED strip for gazebo and pergola ceilings, deck rail undersides, garden feature walls, stair nosings and covered entrance accents. Contractors and small businesses reach for it for backlit signage, display cases, cove details above a bar, shelving in a boutique and under-counter task light in a café. Because it tolerates operating temperatures from 40C to -10C, it fits Canadian three-season structures, carports and sheltered storefronts.
