Built for low-voltage LED tape
Built for low-voltage LED tape
Every LED strip system needs three things: tape, power and control. This unit is the power stage. It takes the 120V AC from your wall and delivers a stable 24V DC supply, which is what keeps a long run of LED strip lighting looking uniform rather than bright at one end and dull at the other. Because it is designed specifically for LED strips and not as a generic adapter, it is sized around real strip loads and ships ready to use with 1 power supply and 1 power cable in the box. It is a plug-in style supply, so it connects to a standard receptacle instead of requiring a junction box — a real advantage when you are retrofitting finished cabinetry or trim.

Sizing, load and circuit length
Choosing a LED driver is about matching wattage to the load. Add up the wattage of the tape you plan to connect and stay comfortably under the 72W capacity of this supply; leaving margin keeps the unit cooler and your light output steadier. The most common mistake is assuming a larger supply allows a longer single run. It does not. Voltage drop and the tape's own copper limits set the maximum circuit length, and that figure is published in the description of each strip — read it before you cut and connect. If your layout exceeds what one circuit allows, split it into separate runs fed from the supply rather than daisy-chaining beyond the recommended length. Overloading this power supply will damage it, so honest math at the planning stage saves a callback later.
Control, dimming and compatibility
This model has no built-in dimming, and that is by design. In a strip system, dimming and colour work happen between the power supply and the tape. Wire the supply's low-voltage output to a compatible 24V controller or dimmer, then feed the tape from the controller: you get smooth single-colour dimming, or full colour mixing, scenes and effects on RGB and RGBW LED strips. It works with 24V single colour, RGB and RGBW tape — match the voltage of every component in the chain, since 24V accessories and 24V tape must be used together. Observe polarity on the output connections, keep the supply in a dry, ventilated spot with some air around it, and never bury it in insulation or a sealed cavity.
Where it goes to work
Where it goes to work
Think kitchen under-cabinet and toe-kick lighting, pantry and closet shelving, cove lighting in living rooms and bedrooms, stair nosings, basement bars, bathroom mirror surrounds, home theatre risers and garage workbenches. On the commercial side it powers retail display cases and shelf edges, reception desks and logo walls, restaurant booths and bar fronts, salon stations, hotel corridors and backlit signage. Its cULus certification for Canada and the USA makes it an easy specification for both residential renovations and commercial fit-ups.
Documentation
The technical PDF for the 24V 3A (72W) power supply for LED strips is available in the Documentation tab of this page, with the output, input and certification details you need for your submittal or your electrician. Read it alongside the specification page of the strip you are using so your wattage total and your maximum circuit length both line up before installation day.
