What this power supply actually does
Every low-voltage LED strip needs a device that converts household current into the steady low voltage the diodes are designed for. That's exactly the job of the 24V 2A (48W) Power Supply for LED Strips: it takes the 120V AC from your wall outlet and delivers a clean 24V output at up to 2A, for a total of 48W. It's a compact, self-contained box with a power cable, made to sit discreetly inside a cabinet, behind a valance, under a shelf or inside a display case. It is the go-to answer when a short strip run needs its own supply instead of being tacked onto an already loaded circuit.

Sizing it right: the 48W rule
This is the part people skip and regret. Each LED strip lists a consumption per metre, and that figure — not the length alone — tells you what the supply can carry. Add up the total draw of the run you want to power and keep it comfortably under the 48W the unit provides; leaving headroom keeps the supply cooler and your light output stable. Because different strips draw different amounts, the same 48W supply may feed anywhere from about 1 to 5 metres depending on the model you choose. Always read the strip's own description before connecting, since overloading the supply will damage it. And since the output is 24V, it pairs only with 24V LED strips — matching the voltage of the strip to the voltage of the driver is non-negotiable.
Compatibility, controllers and dimming
It powers Single Color, RGB and RGBW 24V LED strips, which covers warm white accent runs as well as full colour-changing installations. The supply itself is not dimmable, so brightness control, colour selection and lighting effects are handled by adding a compatible LED controller wired between the power supply and the strip: a simple dimmer module for single-colour tape, or an RGB / RGBW controller with a remote or wall panel for colour work. Keep the controller within the same 48W budget and mount it where you can still reach it after the millwork goes back on.
Where it earns its keep — and the paperwork
In homes, it's the quiet hero behind under-cabinet kitchen lighting, a lit bathroom vanity niche, stair nosing accents, a home-theatre cove or backlit shelving in a basement reno. In businesses, it feeds jewellery and bakery display cases, reception desk edges, retail shelving, backlit bar shelves and small sign boxes — all places where a plug-in led strip driver means no new circuit and minimal downtime. Its cULus certification for Canada and the USA is what lets it sit comfortably in Canadian residential and commercial projects alike. Full details are in the technical PDF available in the Documentation tab of this page, and we recommend reading it alongside the spec sheet of the strip you plan to install.
