Built around a true 4-in-1 chip
Standard colour tape mixes red, green and blue to fake white — and it shows. This RGB+W LED strip uses Epistar 5050 RGB+W SMD 4-in-1 chips, meaning each package holds a red, a green, a blue and a separate white emitter. Run the white channel alone for everyday lighting at 5000K Daylight with a CRI of 80+, run the RGB channels for colour, or blend them for pastels and washed tones. With 96 LEDs per meter — 480 chips across the 5-meter reel — the line of light reads smooth and continuous instead of a row of visible dots, which matters a lot in coves and shallow channels where the strip sits close to the surface.

Wiring, power and control
This is a 24V DC low-voltage strip, which means longer runs and less voltage drop than 12V tape. Size your driver from the real load: 15.4 W/m consumed, with a supply rated at 19.2 W/m recommended to leave headroom — for the full 5-meter reel, do the math on that per-meter figure and never run a power supply at its absolute limit. Five wires are already soldered at each end (17 cm), so you can feed from either side or continue a run without cutting into the board. Control is done through a low-voltage RGBW controller and remote combo, which handles both the colour changes and the dimming; the strip is not meant to be dimmed by a standard line-voltage wall dimmer. Cuts are allowed every 6 LEDs, at the 62 mm marks, and reconnections are made by soldering or with the proper 5-pin connectors.
Installation and heat management
The 3M self-adhesive back sticks to clean, dry, smooth surfaces, but adhesive alone is not the whole story: the strip must be installed on a heat-dissipating surface or inside an appropriate aluminum channel. Aluminum profile does three jobs at once — it pulls heat away so the chips hold their output over 50,000+ hours, it protects the tape from knocks and fingers, and with a diffuser lens it turns the 120° beam into a soft continuous line instead of visible dots. At 12 mm wide and 2 mm high, this strip fits generously sized profiles; check the internal width of your channel before ordering. Keep it out of enclosed, unventilated cavities, and respect the IP20 rating: dry indoor locations only, away from splashes and outdoor exposure.
Where it works and what is documented
Homeowners use it for basement coves, home theatre ceilings, kitchen under-cabinet and toe-kick lighting, staircases, closets and bedroom headboards. Contractors and small businesses put it behind bar fronts, in retail display cases, along reception desks, in restaurant soffits and in salon mirrors — anywhere the colour has to shift from a lively evening scene to clean 5000K daylight for cleaning and closing. The full technical spec sheet for this model is available in the Documentation tab of this page: keep it handy for driver sizing, cut points and wiring details before you start your run.
