A single hidden source for the whole project
Plug-in adapters are fine for a quick test, but they leave a cord to disguise and tie up a power receptacle you would rather keep for the coffee maker. This hardwired LED power supply takes a cleaner route: it is connected directly to the building wiring, usually from a junction box, then fastened where nobody will notice it, on top of the upper cabinets or inside a cupboard. From there, low-voltage wires branch out to each strip segment, so a complete kitchen or a row of shelves runs from the same permanent source.
Sizing the load correctly
The output supplies 24V DC with up to 2A of current, for a total of 48W. To plan the installation, find the wattage per foot or per metre on the spec sheet of your LED strip, multiply it by the length of each segment, then add all the segments together. Keep that total comfortably under 48W instead of right at the limit: leaving headroom is widely recommended and gives you room for a small addition later. If the sum climbs too high, split the project into separate zones, each fed by its own driver.
Wiring tips for a clean result
The line-voltage side must be connected by a licensed electrician, in accordance with your local electrical code, and the driver should remain accessible for future service rather than being closed up inside a wall. On the low-voltage side, respect polarity at every connection: positive to positive, negative to negative. A reversed lead is a frequent reason why a freshly installed strip stays dark. Before the millwork is finished, test every segment and label the low-voltage leads so future changes go quickly.
Where this capacity makes sense
Always within the 48W limit, this driver suits mid-sized and larger projects: an L-shaped kitchen with under-cabinet lighting beneath every upper cabinet, a bedroom with a headboard accent, or a basement bar with back-lit bottle shelves. In a business, think of a retail wall of display shelving, a reception desk with a glowing front panel or a restaurant banquette lit from underneath. Contractors appreciate covering a complete room with a single hardwired unit instead of a collection of plug-in adapters.
