Not every project needs a 16-foot line. For cabinets, shelves, niches, vanities and furniture, the LED Aluminum Profile #86 in 8 ft is the practical size. This recessed aluminum profile for LED strip lighting, also known as a recessed LED channel, an aluminum extrusion for LED strips or a built-in LED profile, is designed to make the light source invisible, so your millwork glows without showing the strip. Its compact form factor permits a wide range of uses, from kitchen cabinetry and bookcases to stair walls, headboards, bars and retail fixtures.

This SKU, LCPROF-86-8FT, is the 8 ft length, easy to handle on the job and in the workshop; the series also comes in 4 and 16 ft, with custom fabrication up to 192 inches. Designed for recessed installation, the profile is made of 6063-T5 aluminum, can be installed both indoors and outdoors and can be painted to match your decor; the series is offered in aluminum, black or white. It accommodates and protects the majority of LED strips of the range, white as well as colour RGB-RGBW. The technical drawing lists 27.5 mm (1.083 in), 19.4 mm (0.767 in), 16.4 mm (0.646 in), 12 mm (0.472 in) and 9 mm (0.354 in). It is certified for the Canadian market and carries a 3-year warranty.

The compact form factor permits a wide range of uses, and the light seems to come from the furniture itself.

The extrusion is made of 6063-T5 aluminum, can be installed both indoors and outdoors, and can be painted to match your decor; the series is offered in aluminum, black or white. The profile accommodates and protects the majority of LED strips of the range. A warm white LED strip suits a living room bookcase or a bedroom headboard, a neutral white one lights a kitchen counter or a closet, and an RGB or RGBW strip brings colour to a bar, a games room or a display.

Routing and installation
Recessed installation means routing a groove or making a cut-out in the material, whether wood, melamine, drywall or a baseboard. Check the technical drawing for the exact dimensions before cutting, test-fit the profile, then lay in the strip. Plan the wire path and hide the LED driver in a cabinet or a nearby cavity, and have any line-voltage connection made by a licensed electrician. Need an exact size? Custom fabrication is available up to 192 inches, and the series also exists in 4 and 16 ft.
