Why choose a recessed profile?
A strip mounted on a surface always shows a little hardware. A recessed aluminum profile like the #86 goes into the material itself, a shelf, a cabinet panel or a wall, so the light seems to come straight from the surface. It was designed precisely to make the light source invisible, and its compact form factor lets it fit where a bulkier fixture would never go: shelf edges, stair walls, cabinet bottoms and display niches.
Black profile, opaque lens
This version, LCPROF-86-8FT-BK-LENS-OPAQ-BK, combines a black finish with an opaque lens. The black blends into dark cabinets, charcoal walls and matte-black hardware, while the lens spreads the light of the LED strip into a smooth, even line. Made of 6063-T5 aluminum, the profile holds the strip firmly and protects it; it accommodates a wide variety of white and colour LED strips, RGB and RGBW included, for a static white accent or a full colour scene.
From groove to glow
Start with the technical drawing: it gives every dimension of the section in millimetres and inches, so you can size the groove precisely. Plan the wire path and the location of the LED power supply before closing anything, and keep that supply accessible. The profile can be installed indoors or outdoors; outside, use an LED strip designed for that location. The series comes in 4, 8 and 16 ft lengths, and custom fabrication up to 192 inches gives you one continuous line along a long wall. Leave any line-voltage connection to a licensed electrician.
