What this end cap isAn end cap is the small trim piece that closes the extremity of an
aluminum LED channel. Without one, you see the raw cut of the extrusion, the end of the diffuser and, worse, the end of the LED tape itself. This model is the solid,
no-hole style: there is no cable opening, so it is used at the closed end of a run where no power lead, jumper or connector needs to exit the profile. It is sold as
1 unit, which keeps ordering simple whether you need a single cap for one closed end or several for a long millwork package.
Fit and compatibilityEnd caps are
profile-specific — the shape of the cap has to match the exact cross-section of the extrusion, including its wings, channels and diffuser groove. This one belongs to the #86 profile family, so match the cap to the channel family you are installing rather than to a generic size. Several profile styles and matching accessories are available across the range, including the standard series like the
Finishing end cap #11 (no hole), and dedicated caps for flexible neon such as the
Flex neon endcap 3x6 (without hole) and the
Flex neon endcap 6x6 (without hole). If you are unsure, compare the cap silhouette to the end view of your extrusion before cutting anything.

InstallationWork in order and the finish takes care of itself. Cut the channel to length and clean the cut so there are no burrs or aluminum shavings left inside, then install the LED strip and the diffuser, and finally press the cap into the open end. Friction usually holds it, but in high-traffic or overhead locations — stair nosings, under-cabinet edges, a retail counter people brush against — a small dab of adhesive or a fastener keeps it from working loose over time. At the powered end of the run, use the matching version with a
cable opening so the power lead passes through without being pinched between the cap and the extrusion; a pinched conductor is a service call waiting to happen. Do the same at any point where you exit the profile to jump to the next section.
Where it is usedUnder-cabinet and over-cabinet
LED strip lighting, cove and ceiling details, stair nosings, shelving, closets and pantries, display cases, bar fronts, reception desks and light-commercial millwork — anywhere a linear LED run needs a tidy, durable finish in Canadian homes and businesses. Contractors often add a couple of extra caps to the order: they are the first thing to disappear on a busy site and the last thing you want to be missing when the client walks through. No documents are listed for this accessory; for channel dimensions and diffuser options, refer to the documentation of the #86 profile you are pairing it with.
