This recessed aluminum profile for LED strip lighting, also known as a recessed LED channel, an LED aluminum extrusion or an LED channel with cover, is designed to make the light source invisible: the strip sits inside the recess, the lens closes the channel, and only a neat band of light remains. Its compact form factor permits a wide range of uses, from ceilings and walls to cabinets, shelving and commercial millwork.

This SKU, LCPROF-86-16FT-LENS-OPAQ, is the 16 ft profile with an opaque lens, a length that covers long runs with fewer joints. The series is designed for recessed installation and made of 6063-T5 aluminum; it can be installed both indoors and outdoors, painted to match your decor, and it is offered in aluminum, black or white. It accommodates and protects the majority of LED strips of the range, including white and colour RGB-RGBW strips. The technical drawing lists 27.5 mm (1.083 in), 19.4 mm (0.767 in), 16.4 mm (0.646 in), 12 mm (0.472 in) and 9 mm (0.354 in). Standard lengths are 4, 8 and 16 ft, custom fabrication goes up to 192 inches, and the profile is certified for the Canadian market with a 3-year warranty.

Installation
A recessed installation calls for a groove or a cut-out in the material: drywall, a wood ceiling, a bulkhead, a cabinet or a shelf. Take the exact dimensions from the technical drawing before cutting, then plan the wire path and the location of the LED driver before walls are closed. Lay in the strip, test it, then install the lens. For shorter sections, the LED aluminum profile #86 in 8 ft keeps the same design, and custom fabrication up to 192 inches handles exact lengths. Have any line-voltage connection made by a licensed electrician.
