Built to match the profile, not just to plug a holeAn end cap only looks good when it was made for the exact extrusion it closes. This finishing cap is moulded to the #84 profile contour, so the outline of the cap follows the outline of the channel — flush faces, clean corners, no oversized shoulder standing proud of the aluminum. That is why caps in this accessory range are sold by profile number rather than as a universal part: a cap borrowed from another series will either rattle loose or refuse to seat, and both show up in the finished work. The "with hole" version carries a factory opening sized for the low-voltage lead, so you are not drilling or filing an extrusion end on site.
Where the hole goes and why it mattersIn a typical run, one end of the
aluminum LED channel is powered and the other is dead. The capped-with-hole end goes at the feed side, letting the wire from the LED tape exit straight out of the profile and travel to the driver, connector or junction box without being pinched between the extrusion and the diffuser. The opposite end gets a solid cap for a fully closed, symmetrical result. Done this way, the
LED strip and its solder joints stay inside the channel, dust and vacuum-cleaner brushes stay out, and the diffuser keeps its grip at both ends instead of sliding over time.
Installation: dry-fit firstDry-fit the cap before you mount the channel permanently — it is much easier to adjust a run on the bench than overhead. Pass the wire through the opening before you seat the
LED tape and slide the diffuser in, otherwise you will be pulling the strip back out to thread it. On ceiling runs, vertical surfaces or anywhere the profile is handled often, a small dab of adhesive on the inner face of the cap adds holding power while still letting you pry it off carefully later if the tape or the connector ever needs service. Keep a spare cap or two with the project documents: when a store fixture is moved or a kitchen gets refaced years later, that tiny part is what saves the whole run.
