What this part doesAn
aluminum LED channel is extruded, which means both ends are cut open. Left that way, you see the raw inside of the profile, the end of the tape, and sometimes the solder pads and lead wires. The #49 finishing end cap slips over that opening and closes it flush with the profile walls, so the eye follows the line of light all the way to the end instead of stopping at a dark hole. It is sold as 1 unit, in
black, and you generally need two per channel section — one at each end — unless a wire exits one side or two sections butt together.

Fitment and compatibilityEnd caps are not universal. Each one is moulded to the exact cross-section of its profile, so a #49 cap fits
#49 extrusions and nothing else — always confirm the profile number stamped on or listed with your channel before ordering. If you are working with a different shape, the same standard family includes the
finishing end cap #11 without hole and the
finishing end cap #11 with hole. For
flexible neon runs, which use a completely different silicone body, the matching parts are the
flex neon end cap 3x6 without hole and the
flex neon end cap 6x6 with hole, sized to the neon profile rather than to an aluminum channel.
Installation tipsCut and mount your channel first, seat the
LED tape and the diffuser lens, then dry-fit the caps before you fasten anything permanently — it is much easier to adjust a run by a few millimetres now than after the profile is screwed to the cabinet. A gentle, even press is normally enough to seat the cap; never force it with a hammer. For overhead runs, stairwells, retail displays and any high-traffic area where a cap could be knocked loose, a small dab of adhesive on the inside lip keeps it in place for the life of the installation. Because this version has no cable opening, plan your power feed at the opposite end of the run, at a splice point, or through the back of the profile.
Where it earns its keepUnder kitchen cabinets and in island toe-kicks, along cove and tray ceilings, inside pantries, wardrobes and linen closets, under floating vanities, on stair treads, and in every kind of
commercial fit-out — jewellery and display cases, reception desks, bar fronts, retail shelving, office feature walls and signage details. Canadian contractors finishing a condo renovation or a boutique build-out order these by the handful, because a single missing cap is the one thing a client notices. No spec sheet or IES file applies to this accessory; simply match the profile number and the finish, and keep a few extras in the van.
