Built for real installations
The 12V 9.5A (114W) Power Supply is a hard-wired style transformer housed in a compact metal-style enclosure measuring 17 cm long by 7 cm wide by 4 cm high. That small footprint is a real advantage on site: it slips into a cabinet base, above a drop ceiling access point, inside a service closet or behind casework without eating up space. It arrives as a complete package — the power supply itself plus a power cable — so there is one less trip to the supply counter before you can energize your 12V devices.
Class 1 versus Class 2 — read this first
This unit is a Class 1 transformer. That single word changes everything about where you can use it. Low-voltage LED strips must be fed by Class 2 transformers, which are built to respect specific maximum power limits — 60 watts at 12 volts and 96 watts at 24 volts — precisely because those limits satisfy the safety requirements of the electrical code for low-voltage installations. A Class 1 supply is not bound by those limits, which is exactly why it can deliver a generous 114W, and exactly why it is the wrong choice for strip lighting. If your project is a tape light run, choose a Class 2 LED driver instead. If your project is another type of 12V load that calls for a Class 1 source, this is the unit you want.

Installation and electrical notes
Wiring is refreshingly simple: 120V AC in, 12V DC out, with the supplied cable handling the line side. Mount the transformer somewhere dry, accessible and ventilated — inside a cabinet, a utility room or a service area — and keep it reachable for future service, because nobody enjoys opening drywall to find a transformer. Total your connected 12V load in watts before you finalize the design and leave yourself comfortable headroom under the 114W capacity; running a supply near its ceiling all day shortens everyone's patience. Since this model is not dimmable, any dimming has to be handled on the load side by devices designed for it, or by choosing a dimmable supply for that circuit. As always, have the work done by a qualified electrician and follow local code.
Where it earns its keep, and documentation
Homeowners use a 12V power supply like this one during renovations for low-voltage equipment in kitchens, basements and home offices. Contractors specify it for residential and commercial projects where a Class 1 source is appropriate and where a smaller transformer simply would not carry the load. Small businesses lean on it behind display fixtures, counters and back-of-house equipment. The cULus certification for Canada and the USA keeps things clean at inspection time on both sides of the border.
