The LED Aluminum Profile #86 in black is a black recessed LED channel designed to make the light source invisible, leaving only a crisp line of light in a dark surface. Searched as a black aluminum profile for LED strip lighting, a recessed LED extrusion or a black LED aluminum channel, it gives any LED strip the look of integrated architectural lighting. Its compact form factor permits a wide range of uses, from ceilings and feature walls to millwork, shelving, bars and commercial fixtures.

This SKU, LCPROF-86-16FT-BK, is the black version in a 16 ft length, ideal for long continuous runs; the series also exists in 4 and 8 ft, and custom fabrication up to 192 inches is available. Made of 6063-T5 aluminum, the profile is designed for recessed installation, can be installed both indoors and outdoors and can be painted to match your decor. It accommodates and protects the majority of LED strips of the range, white as well as colour RGB-RGBW. The technical drawing lists 27.5 mm (1.083 in), 19.4 mm (0.767 in), 16.4 mm (0.646 in), 12 mm (0.472 in) and 9 mm (0.354 in). It is certified for the Canadian market and carries a 3-year warranty.

Set it into a black slatted wall in a Calgary condo, a dark ceiling in a Montréal restaurant, a home theatre in Mississauga or a whisky bar in Halifax, and the light seems to float in the surface. Add the LED strip of your choice and the black edge blends into the decor. The 86 series is designed for recessed installation and designed to make the light source invisible. In black, reference LCPROF-86-16FT-BK is made for dark surfaces: black or charcoal ceilings, dark-stained wood panelling, black kitchen cabinets, matte wall panels in a restaurant or a boutique. The profile edge stays discreet and only the line of light stands out. The extrusion is made of 6063-T5 aluminum, it can be installed both indoors and outdoors, and it can be painted if you ever change the colour scheme.

Choosing the strip
The profile accommodates and protects the majority of LED strips of the range, so the light is up to you. A warm white LED strip brings a cozy glow to a dark living room or a home theatre; a neutral or cool white one keeps a black kitchen or a workshop practical; an RGB or RGBW strip turns a bar, a lounge or a games room into a colour scene. With the source recessed and hidden, guests see the glow, not the strip.

Installation of a recessed profile
A recessed profile sits in a groove or a cut-out in the material, whether drywall, wood, cabinetry or a wall panel. Read the technical drawing before routing so the cut matches the profile, then plan the wire path and the LED driver location before closing walls or cabinets. The 16 ft length limits joints on long runs; for exact dimensions, the series offers custom fabrication up to 192 inches, and standard 4 and 8 ft lengths for shorter spaces. Any line-voltage connection should be made by a licensed electrician.
