What this connector does
The X connector, or cross connector, is a four-way junction for the TUROLIGHT ASTELLA Track System. It sits at the intersection of four track sections and carries power and polarity through all of them, so a single feed can supply a cross, a plus-sign or a grid layout. Because it is part of the H type single circuit family, it only mates with H-type track of the same system — it is not a universal adapter. The black finish matches black track sections and black track lighting heads, keeping the ceiling visually quiet so the light, not the hardware, gets noticed.

Installation and electrical details
Turn off power at the main panel before installing any track or accessory. The track itself mounts over the outlet box: mark the mounting holes on the ceiling or wall, drill 5/8 holes in drywall or plaster and secure with the toggle bolts provided, or use standard #10 wood screws (not supplied) on wood surfaces, with the flat underside of the track facing the mounting surface. Before sliding the X connector into the open end of a track section, loosen the setscrews — this applies to all connector types in the family. Select the correct ground tab: to maintain circuit polarity, the ground tabs of the connectors must be prepared before sliding onto the non-ground conductor side of the section being joined, and if the wrong tab has been removed, the connector must not be used because grounding will no longer be maintained. Wire connections are made by cutting and stripping the box wires 3/8" and securing them to the screw terminals in the live end feed or connector; there is no need to wrap the wire around the screw. Finish by sliding dead-end fittings into ALL open track ends and tightening the setscrews before restoring power — this step is specifically called out to reduce the risk of fire.

Compatibility and fixtures
To reduce the risk of fire and electric shock, use only fixture assemblies marked for use with TUROLIGHT track. Lampholders install by aligning the polarity lines of the track with those of the lampholder, pushing the top of the mounting adapter (with the contact tabs) into the track slot and rotating 90°; if the adapter does not turn easily, do not force it — rotate the other way. To remove a head, press the release lever with your index finger and rotate 90°. The X connector is designed to be combined with the other H-type accessories of the system, including the live end connector, end connector, L connector, T connector, straight connector, flexible connector and mini joiner, so a designer can draw almost any ceiling geometry with the same parts.
