Built as a system, not a one-off fixtureThe ASTELLA track from TUROLIGHT is a
H-type, single-circuit track system designed to be cut, joined and extended to fit the room instead of the other way around. This 8-foot black section is one building block: the underside of the rail is flat and faces the ceiling or wall, while the open, elongated side of the track face accepts lampholders anywhere along its length. That means the position of your
track lighting heads is never locked in — slide them, re-aim them, add one more when the furniture changes. The family includes live feeds, end feeds, dead-end caps and mechanical joiners (models AST-TRK-H-LEC, AST-TRK-H-EC, AST-TRK-H-XC, AST-TRK-H-LC, AST-TRK-H-MJ, AST-TRK-H-TC, AST-TRK-H-SC and AST-TRK-H-FC) so a single run can turn a corner, form a T, cross into an X or simply end cleanly.

Electrical and installation detailsInstallation is straightforward for any electrician or experienced renovator, but the order matters. Shut off power at the main panel (fuse box) before installing track or accessories. Step 1: hold the rail over the outlet box and mark the mounting hole positions on the ceiling or wall; in drywall or plaster, drill 5/8 mounting holes and secure the rail with the supplied toggle bolts, and on wood surfaces use standard #10 wood screws (not supplied). Step 2: install the lampholders and the power feeds — strip the box wires 3/8" and land them on the screw terminals in the connectors or live end feeds; there's no need to wrap the wire around the screw. Step 3: turn the main power back on. Local installation requirements must always be respected, and basic safety precautions apply throughout.
Polarity, connectors and safetyTo keep circuit polarity consistent from section to section, the ground tabs on the connectors must be prepared before sliding them onto the non-ground conductor-side tab of the track section you're joining. If the wrong tab has been removed, do not use that connector — grounding would not be maintained. Loosen the set screws on any connector type before sliding it into the open end of the track, then tighten them once seated. To reduce the risk of fire, make sure a dead-end fitting is slid into every open end of the run and the set screws are tightened before energizing. To mount a lampholder, align the polarity line on the track with the one on the lampholder, push the top of the adapter (with the contact tabs) into the track slot and turn 90°; if it doesn't turn easily, don't force it — turn the other way. To remove, press the release lever with your index finger and turn 90°. To reduce the risk of fire and electric shock, use only fixture assemblies marked for use with TUROLIGHT track.
Where it earns its keep, and what's documentedEight feet is a practical length for Canadian rooms: a galley kitchen or island, a long entry hall, a stairwell gallery, a home office or a finished basement; on the commercial side, think boutique shelving walls, café counters, hair salons, art galleries, showrooms and small offices where the layout shifts. Because the black finish hides against dark or exposed ceilings, it's a favourite for industrial-style spaces. Build longer or shorter runs with the matching
4 ft black section or the
6 ft black section, go long with the
12 ft version in white, or match a pale ceiling with the
8 ft white section. The full installation instructions for the AST-TRK models are available in the Documentation tab (AST-TRK-H-08-BK spec sheet) — worth reading before you drill.
