What this end cap actually doesAn aluminum LED channel is only as good as the way it ends. This finishing end cap is a closure accessory that covers the exposed opening of the extrusion after the profile has been cut and the
LED strip has been seated inside. Sold individually (1 unit), it lets you buy exactly the quantity your project needs — most installers plan two per run, and keep a handful of spares in the truck for the inevitable recut. Beyond looks, the cap performs a mechanical role: it caps the channel cavity, protects the cut edge, and helps keep the
diffuser lens seated in its track so the lens cannot slide out once the run is mounted overhead or under a cabinet.
Fit and compatibilityEnd caps are
profile-specific, so the cap must match the cross-section of the extrusion you are using. Across a channel system there are several profile styles and sizes, and caps are typically offered in both solid and pre-drilled versions: the pre-drilled one lets the power lead exit cleanly on one side while the solid cap fully closes the opposite end. That pairing is the standard way to wire a run without a visible gap or a wire pinched against bare aluminum. If your project uses flexible neon rope instead of a rigid profile, the neon family is a separate fit — see the
Flex neon endcap side view (without hole) and the
Flex neon endcap top view (without hole). For another standard profile size, the
Finishing end cap #11 (with hole) covers the drilled version of its shape.
Installation, step by stepDry-fit everything before you commit: slide the channel, the lens and both caps together on the bench to confirm the assembly reads flush. Cut the extrusion square — a mitre saw with a fine-tooth blade works well — then lightly deburr the cut edge with a file if the fit feels very snug, since a burr is almost always the reason a cap refuses to seat. Press the cap on with steady, even pressure rather than hammering it. For high-traffic areas, overhead coves or anywhere a ladder is needed for service, a small dab of adhesive on the inside face of the cap keeps it permanently secure. Where the power lead exits, pass the wire through the drilled cap before final mounting so you are not fighting the connection inside a finished cabinet.

Where it earns its keepThink kitchen
under-cabinet lighting where the run stops at the edge of an island, closet and pantry shelving, cove and ceiling perimeter details, display cases and retail shelving, bar fronts, reception desks, stair and hallway accent lines, and garage or workshop task lighting. In renovation work across Canada, these little caps are what separate a strip glued under a shelf from a finished architectural light line — and they are just as important on commercial installs, where a client's eye always lands on the end of the run. No spec sheet, IES file or installation video is listed for this accessory; refer to the specifications of the aluminum channel and LED strip you are pairing it with, and match the cap to that profile before ordering.
