What this lens isAn
LED channel lens is the cover that snaps onto an aluminum extrusion to close the housing over your tape light. This 8' frosted version is machined to fit the #84, #85, #86 and #88 profile shapes, so the same part number serves several of the most common surface-mount, recessed and corner extrusions. Sold as a stand-alone accessory, it's the piece you order when you're building a channel system from parts, when a cover was damaged on site, or when you want to swap a clear cover for a softer look after seeing the run lit up for the first time.
Light quality and comfortThe frosted surface diffuses the beam instead of letting it pass straight through. That means no visible dots, no harsh reflection off a quartz countertop and far less glare when someone sits or stands below the fixture. Under upper cabinets, along a
handrail, in a cove or inside a display case, the finished run reads as one even band of light rather than a row of individual diodes. Because diffusion always costs a little output compared with a clear cover, plan the effect you want first: frosted for comfort and a finished architectural look, clear when raw brightness matters most.
Electrical and installation notesThis is a passive optical component with no wiring, no polarity and no driver requirements of its own. It does not affect dimming — the run behaves exactly as your strip, driver and dimmer combination dictates. The recommended sequence on site is simple: mount and wire the
aluminum channel first, power up and test the strip, then press the lens into place and finish with end caps. If you need a shorter piece, cut it cleanly with a fine-tooth blade and deburr the edge so it seats flush in the profile. Keep the strip centred in the extrusion for the most uniform diffusion and to let the aluminum do its job as a heat sink, which supports the life of the LEDs.

Applications and related partsKitchens and bathrooms, basements and hallways, offices, boutiques, restaurants and workshops all benefit from a diffused run: think under-cabinet task lighting, toe-kick accents, stair and corridor guidance, shelving and millwork details, backlit reception panels or a cove around a coffered ceiling. For longer installations, order additional pieces such as the
8' frosted lens #84 #85 #86 #88, and if your job uses a different extrusion, check the
8' opaque lens #545, the
8ft opal diffuser lens for LED profile #80 or the
16ft opal diffuser lens for LED profile #44. Always confirm the profile number stamped on your channel before ordering a cover, and keep a spare on hand — a scratched lens is the fastest way to spoil an otherwise perfect
LED strip installation. No documents are currently posted for this accessory; for anything specific to your channel, refer to the documentation of the matching extrusion.
