What exactly you're gettingThis is the replacement or add-on
opal diffuser lens for LED profile #80, supplied in an 8-foot length. It is the cover only — no aluminum channel, no LED strip, no end caps. The opal (opaque-look) finish is the diffusing style people choose when the goal is to erase the individual LEDs and read the fixture as one solid line of light. If you already own #80 extrusions and your original lens got scratched, yellowed, cracked during a renovation, or was simply cut too short, this is the part that brings the run back to new without touching the profile screwed to your cabinet or ceiling.
Light quality and why opal mattersA bare LED strip shows "dotting" — a visible row of hot spots, especially when the strip sits close to the cover or when you can see the channel from an angle. An
opal lens scatters that output so the surface glows evenly from end to end. Compared with a clear cover it trades a little raw punch for a much cleaner look, which is why it's the default for
under-cabinet lighting, cove lighting, display millwork and anywhere the fixture itself is in the sightline. Rule of thumb on site: the farther the strip sits from the lens and the tighter the LED spacing on the tape, the smoother the final line.

Installation and handling tipsThe lens slides in from the end of the channel or snaps in from the top, depending on how your #80 profile is mounted; sliding is usually easier before the profile is fixed in place, snapping is the fix when the extrusion is already anchored. Cut with a fine-tooth blade or a sharp utility knife and score-and-snap technique, support the full length so it doesn't flex, and deburr the cut edge so it seats flush. Leave the protective film on until the run is mounted and wired — that's what keeps drywall dust and fingerprints off the diffusing surface. For long runs, butt the sections tightly inside the channel and place the joint where a shelf, a corner or a ceiling break hides it. Always confirm your extrusion is stamped or catalogued as
#80 before ordering, since lens profiles are not interchangeable between channel families.
Compatibility, projects and documentationKitchens and bathrooms, closets and pantries, stair nosings and handrails, home theatres, garage and basement workshops, plus commercial work like retail shelving, cooler and display cases, reception fronts, corridors and office desking — this lens suits all of them because it's the finishing piece of a linear
LED strip lighting system. Same family, different needs: go longer with the
16ft opal diffuser lens – LED profile #80, or pick the right cover for another channel with the
8' opaque lens #49, the
8' opaque lens #545 or the
8ft opal diffuser lens – LED profile #44. No spec sheet or IES file is published for this accessory; any document added later will appear in the Documentation tab of this page.
