What this lens isThe 8' Opaque Lens #545 is a diffuser cover, an accessory sold on its own for aluminum
LED channel systems. It is the piece that closes the top of the extrusion once the tape is installed, turning a visible line of diodes into one even band of light. Installers search for it under many names —
extruded light lens, custom extruded lens,
white lens, opal diffuser, LED strip light cover — but the job is always the same: hide the hardware, soften the output and give the run a finished, architectural look.
Light quality and visual comfortAn opaque diffuser scatters the beam across its full surface instead of letting it escape point by point. That removes the dotting effect you get with a clear cover and lowers
glare, which matters in spaces where people work for hours or where the profile sits near eye level: under-cabinet task lighting, handrails, display cases, reading nooks. Because the lens only diffuses and does not tint, the
high colour rendering and the
colour temperature of your LED tape are preserved, and the circuit stays
dimmable with compatible dimmers — no change to your driver or control plan.

Installation and cuttingMount the channel and the LED tape first, then press the lens in from one end and work steadily along its length until it seats evenly. If your run is shorter than 8 feet, cut the lens with a fine-tooth blade and smooth the cut edge so the
end caps seat flush against it. For long runs, plan your seams where they will be least visible — over a cabinet divider, at a corner or behind a bracket. Keep protective film on until the profile is fixed in place to avoid scratches, and clean fingerprints off with a soft, slightly damp cloth rather than a solvent. No wiring or tools beyond a blade are required, since the lens carries no electrical function.
Applications and matching partsKitchen cabinets and islands, bathroom mirror niches, closets and pantries, stair and corridor handrails, retail shelving and jewellery cases, cove ceilings in condos, reception desks, clinic and salon millwork, garage and workshop benches — anywhere a Canadian renovation or fit-out calls for clean linear light. It is also the practical fix when a cover has been cracked during a move or yellowed in an older installation. Always order the lens that matches your extrusion number; for other profiles in the same family, look at the
8 ft opal diffuser lens for profile #80, the
16 ft opal diffuser lens for profile #44 or the
prime lens #145. No spec sheet or IES file is published for this accessory; the profile number and the 8 foot length are what you need to match it correctly.
