What this canopy actually doesA track rail has to get its power from somewhere, and on the ASTELLA system that job belongs to the floating canopy. AST-TRK-H-FCNP-WH covers the ceiling outlet box, holds the line connection and feeds the
H-type single circuit track so every head you clip on afterwards is live. The word "floating" matters: the canopy is not fixed to the middle or to one fixed point of the rail, so the electrician can bring power to the track at the position that suits the room and the existing box, instead of moving the box or living with an off-centre run.

Wiring and installationAlways shut the power off at the panel before installing the track or any accessory, and follow local installation requirements — in Canada that means the work has to respect the electrical code in force in your province. To mount the rail, drill the fixing holes in the ceiling or the wall with the plain underside of the track facing the surface; on drywall or plaster, drill 5/8 fixing holes and secure with the toggle bolts supplied, and on wood surfaces use standard #10 wood screws (not supplied). For the feed, strip the wires 3/8" and land them on the screw terminals of the connector — no need to wrap the wire around the screw. Loosen the set screws on the connector before sliding it into the open end of the track, and keep the polarity line of the connector aligned with the polarity line of the rail so the circuit and the ground tab stay correct. Once everything is in place, tighten the set screws, slide a dead end into every open end of the rail, then turn the main power back on.
Compatibility and headsThis canopy belongs to the ASTELLA H-type single-circuit family and is meant to be paired with the matching rails:
AST Track 2 ft H type white,
AST Track 4 ft H type white,
AST Track 6 ft H type white,
AST Track 8 ft H type white and
AST Track 12 ft H type white for longer runs. Black rails are available in the same H-type single-circuit format when the design calls for contrast. Very important safety note from the instructions: to reduce the risk of fire and electric shock, use only fixture assemblies marked for use with TUROLIGHT track. To install a lampholder, align the polarity lines of the rail and of the head, push the top of the mounting adapter (with the contact tabs) into the track slot and turn it 90°; if the adapter does not turn easily, do not force it — turn the other way. To remove a head, press the release lever with your index finger and turn 90°.
Where it earns its placeSingle-circuit
track lighting is the fastest way to light a space that keeps changing: a retail wall where the merchandising moves every season, a gallery where the artwork rotates, a kitchen island in a renovated bungalow, a basement office, a salon station or a café counter. One canopy, one rail, then as many heads as the run allows — and the layout can be redone in minutes without touching the ceiling again. The complete installation instructions for the ASTELLA H-type single-circuit system, in English and in French, are available as a technical PDF in the Documentation tab of this page; print it and keep it with the job file for the inspector and for the next person who works on that ceiling.
