Built to take the weather
The housing is die-formed aluminum paired with tough glass, finished in black, which is exactly the combination you want on an exterior fixture: aluminum pulls heat away from the LEDs so they keep their brightness over the years, and the glass lens protects the light engine from hail, wind-blown debris and pressure-washing. With an IP65 rating, the fixture is sealed against dust and protected against water jets, so mounting it on an exposed wall, under a soffit, on a pole or on the corner of a garage is not a gamble. The whole unit is compact — 310 mm long, 212 mm wide, 59 mm high — so it hugs the wall instead of sticking out like the old halogen units it replaces.
Light quality and output
The light engine uses PHILIPS 3030 SMD chips, a well-known workhorse chip in outdoor lighting, producing 12 000 lumens with an efficiency greater than 120 lumens per watt. The colour is Cool White, 5000K/5700K, the daylight-type tone that reads as clean and alert — ideal for security cameras, parking surfaces and work areas where you want contrast rather than a warm cozy glow. The 120° beam angle spreads that output wide rather than punching a narrow hot spot, so a single fixture can wash a driveway, a yard or a facade evenly, with fewer dark corners between poles.

Installation and electrical
The fixture is wired for standard 120VAC line voltage, which means it drops straight onto the same circuit that fed your old halogen or metal halide flood light — no extra transformer, no low-voltage supply to hide. It arrives already mounted on a swivel bracket, so once the bracket is anchored to the wall, post or pole, you simply tilt the head to the aim you want and lock it down. As with any exterior fixture, feed the wiring through a weatherproof junction box or gland, keep the drip loop below the entry point, and have the connection made by a licensed electrician where your provincial code requires it. Pairing the fixture with a photocell, timer or motion sensor on the circuit is a common and easy way to automate dusk-to-dawn security lighting.
Where it earns its keep, and documentation
Homeowners use it to light a driveway and side yard through a long Québec or Ontario winter; contractors put them on job trailers, equipment yards and building facades; small businesses light rear exits, dumpster areas, customer parking and delivery docks; farms and shops use them on barns, garages and warehouse walls. Because the output is high and the energy draw is a fraction of halogen, retrofitting several old flood lamps at once usually makes a visible difference on the hydro bill while giving much better visibility.
